We were lucky enough to be the only people on this tour so had the driver all to ourselves. We were picked up from our hotel and drove out of the city on our way to Monkey Hill. As we were ahead of schedule the driver asked if we wanted to stop at a temple which we did to kill some time. Then next to Monkey Hill. We parked at the bottom and catch a bus to the top of the hill. When you are getting out of the bus these men come up to you and try to push sacks of fruit into your hands which you have to pay for to feed the monkeys. I didnt want to feed the monkeys, and as there were so many tourists there, we walked away from the crowds and just observed. Next stop was to a riverside restaurant where we had a seafood dinner while watching the sunset. I am not keen on seafood but my husband enjoyed it. Next was to get the boat to see the fireflies. We were lucky to have a Malaysian couple with us on our who interpreted what was being said. It was magical. One recommendation would be to lather up with insect repellant before you go on the boat as I was bitten to death and it took a few days for the bites to disappear.

This was just magical ! Our driver also took us to the eagle feeding which was optional and had to be paid for, but was really worth it. dinner was an interesting experience and my kids learnt to break up crabs. Highly recommended.

information from guide was extremely limited – it was just driving and having the stops.
Very disappointed with the dinner provided – it says malaysian-style seafood buffet with basic drinks included. It was NOT a buffet and driver/guide said it was an individual set-menu. After I complained, we were brought 5 dishes to share that we could not choose from and which was not enough for the group. Plus, water was not included and we had to pay for our own. For the price we paid for this private tour, I expected more.

Our driver was very punctual and friendly. Came to pick us up on time, went straight to the monkey interaction part of the tour. He left us there to buy our tickets for the eagle feeding tour optional against a small fee. So we strolled around and took the opportunity to learn S few things about ethe region. Eagle feeding was ok, and mini safari was not bad. Following that and while waiting to get dark we went for the traditional dinner, more of a Chinese buffet. The food was exquisite, comprised mainly of seafood.
We then finally got back on the boat for the firefly tour. This was one of the most amazing experience of my life, the show put together by nature here was magical. Unfortunately all photos and videos taken there do not convey the real beauty of the moment but still a very wonderful memory to share with your friends back home.
To summarize, all previous parts of the tour are ok but the finale is totally worth the wait, hence I would highly recommend this tour.

This trip was amazing and more than what we expected. Our guide,Halim, picked us up on time. He was friendly and informative. The car he took us in was very comfortable. We really enjoyed feeding the monkeys and sitting quietly watching their antics. When we arrived at the Firefly departure point prior to dinner we were given the opportunity to buy an extra trip to feed the eagles. This was an amazing experience. Dinner was tasty but due to the busyness of the restaurant we had to keep asking for our meal. After 40 minutes we finally got our dinner which was tasty. This was no fault of Halim as our meal kept getting delivered to other people- poor organisation on the restaurants part. The boat trip was fun and we enjoyed the fireflies but not really the highlight of the trip. Would recommend this to anyone who loves nature

The entire experience as overall an excellent evening. the only negative I would have was the dinner. It was very chaotic and some of our dishes were not delivered. The actual experience of the fireflies on the river was truly one the most wonderful and impressive natural phenomena we had ever seen. I grew up in the southern United States and was familiar with fireflies but what I witnessed on this tour was beyond anything I had imagined. Truly a great experience.

I booked this tour with no high expectation and was met with lots of terrific experiences. We had a private tourguide, his name is LG. He speaks fluent english and was so welcoming that me and my wife felt pretty safe all the way through the journey. He took us to Selangor, which we like to actually experience how things are outside the dense area Kuala Lumpur. LG has it all, he is calm and shows repect to your point of view. We had very good chemistry. We brought up different topics and shared travel experiences. I would say that he went the extra mile to make sure that the service is a slice better than good. I will absolutely recommend this tour. You get to see other parts of Malaysia. You get stories from a local malay LG and ofcourse the fireflies experience that is priceless. It’s lots of fireflies! My recommendation is to sit back and enjoy the boatride instead of taking pictures. I understand that the main focus is not the food, it was average. If you want lobster and other kinds of seafood than what the package gives, then you can order extra and pay for it. The atmosphere on the restaurant was very busy and fun to watch. Overall, this was more than a fireflies tour. The totally experience was unique for us. The tourguide is important here. We have only met one of them, but have good impression that this is a professional company. We have no problem communication with them. I called them from my hotel and got respond in english. Based on what we know, our tourguide LG is absolutely a recommendation for those who want to exchange things in english and get the little extra out of this tour.

The firefly boat tour left us in awe. Its like a subtle Christmas bush show. The lights given off by the fireflies feel sweet and beautiful. The kids enjoyed it so much! They even got to touch/hold the fireflies that were let into boat. Dinner was pleasant and next to the water so we watched the sunset. Beautiful.
Our tour guide, Nasen, was AMAZING! It was just our family of 5 3kids 6 and under. He made it so memorable for the kids, showing us the monkeys, golden babies of the silver leaf monkeys. He made sure our very independent and adventurous son was always nearby. Told us all kinds of stories and information like about bird nests and palm oil extraction. We even got to go to a temple which was a bonus! My oldest still remembers his name! It was like being on a tour with a good friend. He even took us to the store so that we could buy floaties for our kids to swim the next day. Nasen truly went above and beyond to give us a fantastic experience.

It ended up being a private tour and our guide was wonderful! He even added in a wonderful Hindu temple! The fireflies did not disappoint!! Loved getting out of Kuala Lumpur and experiences the beautiful countryside and meeting locals!

Nice trip including the sea food. Nice driver by mr. Harry. Arrived on time for pickup at hotel and drove us safely.

We truly enjoyed our tour with Nesan! His warm personality and quick humor made him an excellent tour guide. He emphasizes that his tours are spontaneous, so he brought us to see a Hindu temple and feed silver leaf monkeys on the way to Kuala Selangor, and to the King’s Palace on the way back to KL. We had a great time at all of these locations! Additionally, he provided us with a Malaysian history lesson that was both informative and captivating. Once we arrived at the final destination, we had a tasty Chinese seafood feast and sipped on Tiger beer. The boat tour was peaceful and the fireflies lit up the bushes beautifully. The tour was an incredible experience and we enjoyed meeting our new friend Nesan!

This tour had multiple trips prior to the actual Firefly tour. The trips that were prior to the Firefly tour were great. However, I think the actual firefly tour wasn’t what I was expecting. Don’t get me wrong though, but actually seeing them close-up was pretty cool. I believe this could have been substituted for something more of an interesting event.

This was a good tour to get out of the city in a day. Our guide took us to several stops that we enjoyed, especially monkey hill. I wish we could have had more time there! The firefly tour was pretty quick, and since there was a lot of moonlight it was a bit harder to see than I imagined (not the tour’s fault, but check the phase of the moon before you book if you are looking to see bright fireflies).

  15. Ruth_M

The Tour its self was good, the driver was very funny but the seafood dinner was poor . The boattrip was good .

  16. MARGIE_R

Small group of 4 tourists was a plus for a very informative fun trip to see not only fireflies, but stop at Hindu temple and monkey hill, then onto a local seafood dinner at a beautiful riverside restaurant.

  17. rbR290LG

It was a nice experience, but a bit dissapointing for the price (expensive) and the time to get there from Kuala Lumpur. Only do this if you have plenty of time and nothing else to do.

  18. Hendrik_K

Good guides, small group. The stop at the palace is nice and the lighthouse and monkey hill had great scenery although the monkeys are especially where the humans are (for the food). The remains of the fortress ar uphill behind the canons, but no signs. Diner was good. ´Fireflies´ was maybe the main purpose but for me the least attractive. Nice to cross the river in the dark in a boat, but at the bushes where the fireflies are you see small lights like a crtistmas tree for 10 minutes, that´s it.

  19. oemarina0726

Tour description was misleading and tour was overpriced. Description was of small boat and opportunities to take pictures of many fireflies. Boat was packed with over 40 people and never stopped and fireflies were scarce so no ability to take photos. Price was far too expensive so I would not recommend.

  20. Alberto_V

The driver was on time for pick up and very easy to talk do. He did a good job at explaining everything related to the tour. The meal called a seafood should be called a vegetarian one instead. No dessert, no napkins to clean your hands, this was disappointed. The rest of the tour was great.

It was a total letdown, starting from the trip that have been postponed to 26th Dec by the operator, instead of the original date 25th dec.
For the firefly cruise which was scheduled at 7PM, we’ve been picked up at 3:30 PM and dropped at 5PM on the location and we’ve to wait for 2 hours, doesn’t make any sense.
The magical experience as stated and shown in the pic, wasn’t exactly magical atal. Instead you’ve to search for the fireflies within the bushes, sitting in the boat and we hardly saw a few of them and it’s no means mesmerizing or memorable.
Better to spend the time/money elsewhere.

I did this tour four times before. First you go and feed the monkeys. Normally with a view on the straight of malaka at a ford and firehouse, lovely scenery. Now instead of going up the hill we fed the monkeys down the hill at the parkinglot. Not a very nice environment at all. Then a nice meal at the river. Normally we drove down to longtail boats and have a quiet boatdrive with a paddle, no noice all calm, very romantic with max four people in the boat. It was like a fairytail. This time however, we boarded at the river where the restaurants are. Big speedboats and they loaded 30 to 40 people on one boat. With 6 big noisy speedboats in a row we raced to the fireflies. People were noisy, filming the fireflies with the flash on, so fireflies were hard to see this way (you cannot film or photograph these flies anyway) there was nothing romantic about it anymore. The faitytail it once was is gone. So dissapointing…

The stops along the way were great – we saw a temple, fed monkeys ❤️❤️❤️, and had a lovely dinner by the river. The fireflies were fun, but don’t show up well in photos or video, so just enjoy the show.

  24. Margaret_H

Our tour was wonderful due to having a great tour host faizal. He made all our stops come alive and made sure that all details for dinner and firefly trip were seamless. Wonderful experience
