While the firefly tour (and blue tears tour which was extra) was good, this tour was not as described. Our guide was LG. This tour was supposed to be a private tour, but there were two other groups with us. What was not listed was a monkey feeding, which was just a bunch of tourists giving monkeys food (some monkeys got in a fight and some other guides went after the monkeys), which was not great. We made a stop but were not able to watch the sunset at Bukit Melawati because we had to get to the firefly tour. The firefly tour is NOT what is shown in the photos – it is a motorized boat with about 30-40 people on board and they take you up the river for 5-10 minutes and spend about 10-15 minutes going along the banks (about 10 feet or 3 meters away from shore) looking at the fireflys. The blue tears tour (bioluminescent plankton) was not included, but everyone decided to do this in the group. This was very cool and the boat took more time looking at it than the fireflys (it was also much closer to the dock than the fireflys). A couple of us on the tour voiced our displeasure in it not being as advertised (he did say that the boats had changed to the motorized boat quite a while ago so they did have plenty of time to change the photo). Because of the complaints, he stopped and showed us the King’s Palace at night (it was on the way back to the hotels). Overall it was a good tour, but was not as described or what we paid for. I recommend the fireflys and blue tears tour, but maybe not with this operator.

Our tour guide definitely made this trip worthwhile – LG was very knowledgeable, kind and had excellent English. He gave us a very deep insight into Malaysian culture and answered plenty of questions we had!
The firefly experience was certainly interesting to see however it wasn’t exactly what I expected and they are fairly dim so the photos are arguably not that accurate.
We opted to upgrade and do the “Blue Tears” trip as well which added an extra 30 minutes to the journey and we went out to sea to see the luminescent plankton – I would definitely not recommend this. The photos were completely different to what we saw and we felt a little cheated. I was assured that this could have been a result of a poor evening for viewing however our experience was drastically different to the images advertised.
If you are in KL and are looking for something different to do then I’d recommend this tour as we made a few stops along the way to a temple, monkey feeding and an excellent viewpoint along with the fireflies which are worth seeing.

This was a fantastic tour. We visited a beautiful Indian temple, got to feed monkeys, and took a boat ride to see the fireflies. Our driver/guide was punctual, friendly, and informative. He even took some awesome photos of us which he shared through WhatsApp after the tour. He made this trip an unforgettable one. 100% recommend.

Wonderful tour! LG is a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable and full of interesting insights and stories. The car was very comfortable and the drive was over much faster than expected. The boat ride was stunning (make sure you also do the sea trip to see the glowing plankton!). All in all, thoroughly recommended!

The whole experience was very positive. Getting picked up from the hotel was a great start. We went by and visited an Indian Temple and afterwards fed the monkeys near a lighthouse overlooking the Strait of Malacca. The dinner at the chinese seafood restaurant was very good. The firefly boat tour was fun and unique. Our driver LG was very friendly and super informed about everything, thanks very much for the fun outing

I chose this tour based on the very good reviews online compared to other companies and was not disappointed. I had the best afternoon thanks to LG, who was incredibly knowledgeable, polite and helpful to me and the other 2 travelers on this tour. We travelled in a clean car with excellent VC, pick up and drop off were both included and worked like a charm. The sights were pretty (though would not recommend getting the optional plankton add on tour which you can book on sight at the last stop), however it was LG’s insights both on the various sights we visited but also Malaysian culture in general that were the highlight for me. He even made sure to discuss our itinerary for the next few days to give us tips about Dos and Don’ts in Malaysia, when to avoid the crowds, etc.
Wish I was staying in KL longer to do another one of his tours with him. Thank you for a lovely afternoon and all the best!

We were only two couples in total driving in a regular car, which is great.
Simon, our tour guide, was very nice and kind. While driving from spot to spot, he was always giving us insights into different places and buildings. At each spot, he made sure that we have the best experience and again provided us with all information we need. Throughout the tour, you have the opportunity to pay for two more attractions if you want to. In our case, we did not, so Simon made sure we spend the time otherwise. In our case, we took the time to hike on the Malawati Hill. We highly appreciate the flexibility! And most importantly, we did not only see millions of fire flies but adorable monkeys as well.
We can only recommend this tour! You will have a good time.

This is not a small group tour, nor do you have a private guide outside of the car ride.
Picked up one hour early and arrived 90 minutes late. Trip included three unlisted stops that made us late to the river and unable to eat dinner until 9:30pm. Despite active thunderstorms in the area, we departed with roughly 30 other passengers. It began pouring rain immediately and we stopped in the middle of the river, rolled down the sides, and sat in the dark with no windows. Eventually tour proceeded in the rain and lightning. Slowed briefly along one bank to see a few fireflies – they don’t come out in the rain.
Entire boat ride lasted less than an hour, despite advertised 5 hour duration and no other stops listed. Finally had dinner at a riverside restaurant chosen by our driver that charged significantly more than the menu prices. Even the strangers in our van felt we had been catfished. If better details and pictures had been provided I never would have booked.

Lovely evening trip spent at a beautiful temple and in the company of wonderful silver leaf monkeys and fireflies. Our tour guide and driver (LG) was great, he gave lots of information about KL and Malaysia in general, took photos of us with the monkeys and even dropped us off at our favourite restaurant on the way back! Tour lasted approx 5 and a half hours and was money well spent!

The tour boat broke down a few minutes into the viewing. The captain turn the internal lights on and they remained on for the next 40 minutes till the rescue boat came. With the lights, we were attached by misquotes. The captain didn’t care to explain what was wrong. We got no apologies. We were not even offered refund. The boat tour company should be investigated for their poor safety and disastrous customer service.

Very nice evening of activities. The 3 stops before the boat ride were great, the temple during prayer time super special, and the monkey play time adorable. Nice short walk to the lighthouse. Good tour, accurately described in the information provided through Viator. Fireflies were impressive. Viewing of bioluminescent plankton is available at extra cost, paid at the firefly place. Although dinner can be bought there, the restaurant advised that we would not have time before the firefly trip to have dinner. The guide did not pick me up from my hotel, although it was centrally located, he contacted me and directed me to another location, however he did drop me off at my hotel after the tour.

The driver is very good. He is knowledgeable and gives us tips in where to sit on the boat to get the best view. He drove us to see the Indian Temple and the silverleave monkeys. Architecture of the Indian Temple is incredible. Climbing 137 steps to see the light house is a bit challenging for seniors, like us 😅.

Despite active thunderstorms in the area, we departed with roughly 30 other passengers. It began pouring rain immediately and we stopped in the middle of the river, rolled down the sides, and sat in the dark with no windows. Eventually tour proceeded in the rain and lightning. Slowed briefly along one bank to see a few fireflies – they don’t come out in the rain.
Entire boat ride lasted less than an hour, despite advertised 5 hour duration and no other stops listed. Finally had dinner at a riverside restaurant chosen by our driver that charged significantly more than the menu prices. Even the strangers in our van felt we had been catfished. If better details and pictures had been provided I never would have booked.

The tour guide was nice and friendly and introduced the places with detailed information. It had enough time for the dinner or let us choose other activities such as eagle feeding. The firefly view was beautiful. Overall, I will recommend the tour to everyone.

Lovely evening trip spent at a beautiful temple and in the company of wonderful silver leaf monkeys and fireflies. Our tour guide and driver (LG) was great, he gave lots of information about KL and Malaysia in general, took photos of us with the monkeys and even dropped us off at our favourite restaurant on the way back! Tour lasted approx 5 and a half hours and was money well spent!

The tour boat broke down a few minutes into the viewing. The captain turn the internal lights on and they remained on for the next 40 minutes till the rescue boat came. With the lights, we were attached by misquotes. The captain didn’t care to explain what was wrong. We got no apologies. We were not even offered refund. The boat tour company should be investigated for their poor safety and disastrous customer service.

Loved seeing the fireflies and the blue plankton and the boat ride was fun. They are things i have never had an opportunity to see. The tour guide was friendly and it was fun overall. The monkeys were interesting! definitely recommend for something you dont normally get to see!

Very nice evening of activities. The 3 stops before the boat ride were great, the temple during prayer time super special, and the monkey play time adorable. Nice short walk to the lighthouse. Boat ride was comfortable and a nice way to explore nature. Driver / guide LG was a good driver and kept us well informed, very good! Overall nice evening activity, which even allowed time to eat at the pier for those who wanted.

Good tour, accurately described in the information provided through Viator. Fireflies were impressive. Viewing of bioluminescent plankton is available at extra cost, paid at the firefly place. Although dinner can be bought there, the restaurant advised that we would not have time before the firefly trip to have dinner. The guide did not pick me up from my hotel, although it was centrally located, he contacted me and directed me to another location, however he did drop me off at my hotel after the tour.

The driver is very good. He is knowledgeable and gives us tips in where to sit on the boat to get the best view. He drove us to see the Indian Temple and the silverleave monkeys. Architecture of the Indian Temple is incredible. Climbing 137 steps to see the light house is a bit challenging for seniors, like us 😅.
