A real ‘must-do’ for any food lover!
Although, this tour would also add value to anyone looking to hear more about Turkish culture or even just a visitor looking to learn a little more about how to travel throughout the city.
Our tour guide was terrific! We were walked to about 7 different places, most of which did not at all seem like ‘tourist’ spots. I guess the last stop for baklava may have been a bit of a tourist stop but the rest of the stops were definitely local favourites rather than tourist hot spots.
One of the features I really liked was our guides informative conversation while we ate. He beautifully described each dish we enjoyed and also spoke about the history of the dish along with its place in Turkish culture.

OMG! This is by far one of the best food tours we’ve been on in our worldly travels – and we’ve been on a lot. Erol was super fantastic! He was on time and took us on a walk through the streets of Istanbul that 1. we never might have gone on by ourselves and 2. the food was absolutely amazing and fulfilling. The food was a lot and exceptional. I can’t say that there was one highlight, because each place we visited has their own story and taste. This experience was fun and exciting. The food we tasted here was far tastier than closer to Gulhane where we stayed. We found ourselves comparing the food quality everywhere we ate. We always felt safe and Erol knew all the back roads and could have explained anything in detail. My husband enjoyed the stuffed mussels – out of this world. Do not think twice about taking this tour – will not regret I promise! We thoroughly enjoyed this tour and our time in Istanbul. Will always have wonderful memories. Erol – hugs to you!!! Great job and stay warm. Happy holidays to you and your family 🙂

Our tour guide Tolga took us on a meandering tour of the vibrant Beyoglu neighborhood with consulates and the Pera Palace Hotel as well as back streets and passages with interesting street food. All the while he explained the history of the area. All the tastings were included in the price. There was never any rush to move on and our questions were all answered. This was a fabulous introduction to Turkish food and flavors. And it turned out to be the highlight of our 4 days in Istanbul. We highly recommend Tolga.
