Great tour, would really recommend for those looking for a good day trip! Local guide in Hells Gate was excellent, and went out of his way to make sure I had a good time. Lake Naivasha is gorgeous, but the boat tour was somewhat robotic and touristy as an alternative, would highly recommend walking through the Crescent Island game sanctuary where you can often see the hippos and other wildlife at your own pace.

Really very fun! Beautiful park and lake. Guides were all very well informed. Places for lunch were a bit overpriced but not very much choice in that I suppose. We were a little bit rushed at the end, but overall an excellent experience.

We had a wonderful day trip from Nairobi to Hell’s Gate and the Lake Naivasha area the first week of March. The driver/guide Sammy picked us up on time and was very good. We are a family of 4 with two teenage kids. All of us loved the trip–it was one of the best things we did in Kenya. We had panoramic views of the Rift Valley, then drove through it, and then the park and lake are interesting and beautiful. Sammy made sure we met our Maasai guide in the park. That guide was also great and had gotten bikes for us. We saw lots of animals–and being on bikes makes it for us a more rewarding and very different experience than being in the van/truck. All of us loved the hike in the canyon–our kids really felt is was an adventure. It has the right combination of beautiful natural features and interesting volcanic/geologic information and having the guide with you makes it really stress free. Afterward we went to a super relaxing but good quality restaurant with large terrace with lake views that was perfect after the hike. I would recommend without qualifications Sammy and Perfect Wilderness Safaris.

Amazing day cycling to the gorge. Animals grazing beside the road as you cycle & eagles soaring above. The gorge was stunning but quite a tough trek. Make sure to take water to drink. My guide Peter Ravin was very knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend this.

Only had 1 full day in Nairobi and this was a perfect day tour to get out and see Kenya and the beautiful nature/wildlife it has to offer.
    – Picked up by van at 7am from our hotel
    – Approx. 2 hour drive from Nairobi to Hell’s Gate, with a stop halfway at a beautiful overlook of the Rift Valley, with a gift shop where you can buy local art/trinkets/etc if you want. The long drive is a great experience because you get to see many sights and towns of Kenya.
    – Bike ride is awesome, about 5 miles through the park to the entrance of the gorge, easy riding mostly flat. Helmets were not provided but the trail is not dangerous. Saw warthogs, zebras, dung beetles, giraffes, monkeys, impalas, gazelles, buffalo, birds. Scenery is beautiful. Then 5 mile ride back to the van.
    – As of Nov 16 2019, the gorge remains closed due to flash flooding that occurred on Sep 2 2019. Park ranger said they plan to re-open the gorge after the rainy season.
    – After bike ride, you have the option to either drive back to Nairobi, or go to Lake Naivasha and do a boat tour. The boat tour is $25 per person and for an additional $30 per person (both are cash only) you can do a walking tour with a local guide of Crescent Island Game Park where there are more wild animals. While expensive, we really enjoyed both and would recommend that the $55 per person is very much worth it.
    – Departed Lake Naivasha at 4pm and returned to Nairobi just after 6pm
    – Everything is at your own pace
    – Last but not least, Albert was a great tour guide and very friendly. Thank you Albert!
-Tips: bring water or buy some before the bike ride, and bring sunscreen! Bugs didn’t seem to be a big issue but use bug repellent just in case. Bring snacks as food is not included in the tour.

Our driver’s name was Black Santa. He took excellent care of us. We felt safe on the drive and appreciated getting to know him and interesting facts about Kenya along the way.

Very fun activity where you get to cycle about 16km within the park (beware – it’s VERY bumpy and the bike seats are very uncomfy – so you’ve been warned! Bring butt cushions!) – totally worth it. You get to see animals up close and personal – we saw families of warthogs, hyraxes, a giraffe up close! waterbuffalos, eagles, birds….we also got to visit a natural hot spring and get nice views after a short hike. We were with a guide called Shem and he was very good – try and get him! Very knowledgable, patient and friendly – takes good photos too, which is a bonus!
Thanks again to Jimmy for driving us out there and looking after us on the tour!

Great trip and super day trip to escape Nairobi city. You might not see as many animals as in other parks but it’s worth it, because the cycling gives a really nice touch! Would definitely recommend!

Though the drive from Nairobi to Hell’s gate was long, it was worth it. We enjoyed the bike ride in the park, surrounded by nature, zebra, buffalos and warthogs. The boat ride at lake Naivasha was great, the highlight was watching and capturing a video of the African fish eagle catching a fish.

Loved it! Great ride (select bike wisely), very good guide with a lot of knowledge, (and a very safe driver), the canyon was closed but still wonderful. Boat trip was worth the price! fair warning bring a hat and lunch is expensive.

Great day trip from Nairobi and completely worth it!! Our driver Steven was timely and shared interesting information about Kenya along the drive. Gaddafi was an amazing tour guide and really encouraged us throughout the bike ride. He went out of his way to take us through the magnificent gorge and show us the iconic spots that inspired the lion king motion picture. After biking through Hell’s Gate, the boat ride on lake Naivasha was a relaxing end to the trip and well worth it! Highly recommend!!

I had an amazing solo trip. It started in the morning by being picked up by Douglas(who was very prompt on time) and was toured at the park by Gadafi. Gadafi is an expert on his field. Lastly, the boat ride was fully worth the optional $25 in my oppinion. A lot of memories and photographs to share!

This trip was an unparalleled way to get close to nature. All the animals look a whole lot larger when you’re not in a safari truck!
The boat tour was also well worth the detour, lots of hippos and the best bird watching I’ve ever been around. They don’t take credit cards at the boat launch so remember to bring cash!

For the Buffalo Circuit, the bikes were perilous to ride, and you should insist on a helmet. Additionally, if you decide to lunch, you should be prepared to pay for the driver’s lunch, which is expected in addition to the driver’s tip. The takeaway? Make sure you understand the details before deciding on this.

4 of us were picked up by George promptly at 0645. We took an ~2hr drive (saw baboons along the way) to a spot where we picked out our bikes just outside of the park’s gate. I would have given this review 5 stars but all of the bikes were In very poor condition. 3 out of our 4 bikes had issues along the way but our bike tour guide did the best he could to make our journey feasible. We saw zebras, gazelles, warthogs, monkeys and giraffe…..it was amazing! After the bike portion, we drove to Lake Naivasha for lunch and a boat tour. The lunch was decent (vegetarian curry) and very reasonably priced. Thunderstorms and rain kept us from doing the boat tour but that was ok…we were tired from the bike portion 😊. George brought us back safely around 6pm. Even though it was a long day, I would do it again.

An easy favorite tour, even with the gorge closed until December 2024! Tour guide Sammie was fantastic and patient. The park is stunning; make sure you cycle through it for the best experience!

I visited Nairobi for a short business trip, and this one-day tour on the day off became a highlight. My guide, Peter, was a very kind person. Also, he is very professional, having good knowledge of animals, plants, geology and even insects.
I was first impressed with the magnificent scenery of volcanic terrein. Although it is said that the number of animals is few compared to other national parks in Kenya, I was able to spot many animals, including zebras, giraffes, gazelles, impalas, etc.. In particular, one can enter such a park by bicycle, which must make you feel good.
The road by bicycle is not long, but it was bumpy and has a slight slope the whole way. Additionary, because the place is high-land (approx. 2000 m), oxigen level would be bit lower than that in place where you usually live. So, I recommend you to keep your pace slow.

Driver was on time and drove carefully. Bike trip was great although my guide was not super proactive in pointing out interesting things / animals. We saw a lot of zebras, buffaloes, gazelles and pumbas, and a few giraffes – a bit further away. The boat trip was nice and the boat guide was very knowledgeable. Smooth trip!

My driver Mr. Dennis picked me up from my hotel in Nairobi and drove me to Hell’s Gate. It took approx 2 hours to get there. Having an experienced driver is a must since the are lots of truckers on the 2 lane road.
Mr. Dennis recommended a boat safari afterwards, which was a fantastic trip.

I deeply enjoyed this trip and would absolutely recommend it! My driver, Dennis, was perfectly punctual, super friendly, and a very conscientious driver. At the park, we met Reagan, who was my guide. He was super competent and taught me loads about the local wildlife, but was also just a fun guy to be around.
If you do this, I would recommend trying to get to the park earlier as that’s when the wildlife is most active. By the end of the tour – around midday – it was quite hot and the animals had left to find shade. The Lake Naivasha resorts are really calm and scenic, so you could spend the night before at one of them and then head to the park from there, which should only take a few minutes!
