Unbelievable! Such a great tour. One of the most interesting experiences on all my travels. Really felt in touch with nature.
If you book this trip, do yourself a big favor and try to arrange the guide Stephen Mutuku. Such a wonderful guide!

Hells gate is a strenuous activity but is not listed as such, there is climbing and rappelling to do. Our driver tried to get us to do the optional boat ride ($), we refused. He wouldn’t take us by the coffee plantation road unless we booked another tour the next day, we refused. Viator, not happy.

For me, Hells Gate was a must. I’m a fit 61 and the 25K bike/Hike was extremely challenging. Of course my water bottle popped out unnoticed after about 200 meters into a ride over volcanic rock …funny thing, my guide found it on the way back on the side of the road, around and area where I suspected I must have lost it. The rock climbing at The Bedrooms is for the limber and mobile but not for kids. The separation between the rocks could be too deep when climbing down. So if you felt unsure about the bike/hike part and skipped it, the drive through the park would be fine too. Then going to Lake Naivasha, take the boat ride. It costs 30, not 20 and they only use cash for that part so be prepared. I had a boatman/guide and just me…perfect to see the Hippos up close. On the side banks was a huge Cormorant rookery with the flocks surrounding us. This boat was basically the size of a long canoe vastly different than the big boats of 30 years ago and this provides a more intimate experience. I also saw Waterbuck, Impala, Giraffe and a lone Wildebeest on the banks. The ride out from Nairobi is quite a ride but this is a good full day trip.

It was an excellent day tour from Nairobi. Riding a bike made it very sporty and different. Be ready to sweat a bit on your ride back since you will face a slight but long slope. Don’t worry any average person can do it. You will see Zebras, pumbas, different types of monkeys, impalas, and a couple of giraffes. There are not cats so you will not be eaten : My park guide Ibrahim was also nice and friendly and explained as we tour. Keep in mind that to get to the gorge you have at some points hold a rope for descending so for overweight people or with mobility problems going down might be challenging. Again, an average person it will be fine. My driver Stephen picked me up at the hotel very punctual and he was very nice and drove safety considering the roads are not well kept. For lunch they took me to a very nice and affordable place named Fisherman’s camp, around 800 shillings 8USD for a main course, there there where a lot of beautiful birds.

This was a really great day, well organised, enjoyable, active and as described. The only criticism is that I think it was on the upper end of expense, but overall a great day.

Francis our driver was incredibly patient. Engaging and very respectful. I was impressed by his punctuality and my goodness.. the music he was playing . oh my..throwback to the 90’s r&b era.. lulled us all to sleep..Amazing patient tour guide when we arrived at Hells gate in lake Naivasha. The bike ride was a little bumpy but worth the ride. The scenic drive/ ride on the bike was magnificent.. I highly recommend this excursion!

I loved the experience, starting from the biking experience at the entrance down to the gorge and also our tour guide in the park Gadaffi was awesome at his job. Kelvin who picked me up from my apartment and took me and some other tourist to see the Hell’s gate and the Lake was a very nice fellow. He was very vocal and friendly. It was a 10/10 experience for me.
