Fun Experience to ride around the island and meet the local inhabitants. Also surprised that food and drinks on island were no more expensive than on the mainland.

The trip was well organised and left on time. The boat was pretty packed by the time we picked up extra passengers in Freemantle, but we had seats as we got on in Perth. However, the bikes we hired were absolutely terrible – rusting, gears didn’t work properly and the seat didn’t secure on one of them meaning the seat kept lowering whilst we were riding it. (My husband is tall so he had a tough time riding it.) I’ve hired lots of bikes in lots of places before, but these were the worst. If I had my time again I would have hired bikes on Rottnest instead, as they were way better quality. We would also have appreciated some commentary on the history of the island and the indigenous stories of the area – I had to Google it all when we got back. Overall it was OK – Rottnest itself is absolutely stunning and made up for the shortfalls of the trip. But it would probably be cheaper and better to book the boat transfers and bike/snorkel hire separately.
Shari_S –
Horrible bike.. no guide at all, need to find out everything in your own. Snorkel gear can’t be carried on the bike
Dean_W –
Riding the island, exploring beaches, quokka spotting, great food at pub, swim in Thomson bay, peaceful travel over island
Datong_F –
I rode around the island for 4 hours, took a lot of beautiful photos, and finally found a quokka, so excited.

Great tour to this lovely Island. Started off with a ferry ride from Elizabeth Quay through Fremantle to Rottnest Island. The Island was very pretty and there was enough time to do/see what we wanted. Part of our package was bike hire. I wish we had not hired bikes through Rottnest Express as the quality of the bikes left a lot to be desired. There were many fellow travellers who complained to staff when they handed their bikes back. Would recommend hiring a bike from a hire store on the Island. All in all a good trip.

The crew on the ferry were lovely, and the bike was fabulous. It had been well maintained and was a joy to ride around Rottnest. I’ll definitely use this company again. Thanks for an incredible experience!

Quokkas, stingray, snorkeling were very nice, electric assist bike would have been nice for all the hills

Had a great day riding around the island to different bays, definitely worth getting the bike & snorkel gear! My only tips would be to pack sunscreen & water and be mindful that if you get the 8:45am ferry from Perth CBD, it’ll be 11am by the time you get there and are ready to go, so try and get the later ferry home if you want to stay a bit longer 🤠
Debra_B –
The colour of the water was breathtaking, scenery in general, easy to book , would do it again without hesitation the bike ride was amazing , you had no restrictions on time
ruth_b –
The beaches and scenery are both stunning and of course the quokkers make it special. The trip over was good and the bikes handed out were OK if a little worn in the brakes and tyres. Cycle paths and directions are good on the island. The only negative was that unbeknownst to ourselves we have been booked on the early return ferry and there was no availability to change, so a shorter day than we would have liked.
Frank_F –
Next time opt for an ebike the hills can be killers, but the beaches and views are spectacular. Take a lot of water
Sheryl_I –
The ferry was excellent and the island was well worth a visit. But the bikes from Rottnest Express are terrible. Corroded from sea spray in the ferry. The gears don’t work, and slip frequently while pedalling making it difficult to go up the hills.
I strongly recommend that you rent bikes from the company on the island. They are in excellent condition, have a basket for your backpack and a person is available if you need help.
RebeccaStorey –
Good if the weather is good. We were lucky. I loved riding the bikes. Boat left on time. Good to take a picnic.

Fantastic day out 🙂. Hire bicycle 🚲 to See more of the island. Snorkeling to enjoy the marine life. Thoroughly recommended.
Christopher_C –
Excellent ferry ride and presenter commentary, yet unfortunately dismal bicycle rentals. The whole cycle fleet needs to a complete overhaul, then regular maintenance. Book your ferry ride with Rottenest Express, just rent cycles elsewhere.
Casey_H –
Bike tracks for all capabilities with beautiful scenery along the way, short boat ride to the island too
Colin_C –
Quokka were very entertaining. Seamless tour ran like clockwork. Sign posting on the island left a bit to be desired!
Lynne_M –
Great way to see the Island. Even the hills were not that hard.
So easy to just get your bike from the boat once landed and to drop it back just before departure. Would recommend

Booked a last minuted trip to Rottnest through Viator. It was a smooth transaction and the fee included the ferry ride, bike rental and entrance fee to the island. I had a fantastic time cycling the island and taking in the sights and sounds. Bring lotsa water and plan your route so that you’ll be near the settlements during lunch time.
