Description

Centre Pompidou remains one of Paris’s defining modern-art institutions, but visitors need current information before planning a trip to Beaubourg. The main Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers building closed to the public on 22 September 2025 for a major renovation, with a renewed cultural centre planned for 2030. Older ticket descriptions that present the main museum as normally open are therefore no longer reliable.

Current closure and renovation

The historic Centre Pompidou building is completely closed while extensive technical and cultural renovations are undertaken. This means visitors cannot currently enter the former permanent-collection galleries, use the famous internal route through the main building or book a conventional museum ticket for Beaubourg as they could before the closure.

The institution has not stopped operating. Its collection and multidisciplinary programme are being presented through the “Constellation” programme at partner venues in Paris, elsewhere in France and internationally.

What visitors can do now

Maison Pompidou operates beside the construction site in the former Brancusi Studio, offering exhibitions and activities about the institution, its architecture and the transformation project. It is generally open daily except Tuesday, but visitors should verify dates and language before travelling. Centre Pompidou exhibitions and events are also staged at venues such as the Grand Palais and other partner locations, each with its own ticket and opening arrangements.

Because programming is dispersed, search by exhibition name and venue rather than assuming that every Centre Pompidou event takes place at Beaubourg.

Exploring the Beaubourg area

The neighbourhood remains worth visiting for the building’s exterior, Place Georges-Pompidou, nearby street art, the Stravinsky Fountain area and the lanes of the Marais. The linked page currently features broader experiences such as self-guided Paris audio tours and Marais walks that pass Centre Pompidou, rather than normal admission to the closed main museum.

Using the booking page

Check the exact name, venue and date of every listing. A product labelled around Centre Pompidou may be a neighbourhood tour, an audio walk or a related cultural activity rather than an entrance ticket to the main building.
