Overall it was a nice journey. We had transfers and tour guides almost everywhere which helped to not think about where to go or how to go there and just enjoy the experience. If I had to change anything about my trip then I’d book that tour to include only the Luxor-Aswan trip and explored Cairo myself. Booking the tour or just, in general, going to Egypt be ready to spend x2 due to tipping and service.
Pros:
– The tour covers most of the must-see sights in Egypt,
– Includes hot air balloon which was cool and my first-time experience,
– Includes a couple of nights on a nice cruise ship,
– If you’re lucky enough then you get the awesome egyptologists-tour guides who can answer any of your questions and go beyond the usual program and will share a lot of cool stuff,
– The tour guides share some tips about local communication and stuff,
– Almost in every sight we had a private tour (only us two, the tour guide and the driver) which I consider very covid save,
– All tour guides and crew on the ship were vaccinated against covid,
Cons:
– Due to covid the agency had to change our schedule a bit and instead of first and last night of the tour in Cairo we spent 2 nights in a row in Cairo which affected our personal plans;
– Last day of the tour before traveling back to Cairo, we had 5-6 free hours before the train, but we already were checked out from the cruise. For some reason, the tour agency didn’t take it into account during planning and we basically would have to wait this time at the train station. So we had to pay an extra $80 for day use of the hotel;
– We had to wake up 3-5 am at the morning almost every day to start our program and had around 3 different places to visit per day which one’s may find exhausting;
– Due to so many places we had to visit, we didn’t have enough time in each of them and we were always in a rush. In total it’s about 1-1.5 hours per temple;
– Sometimes the communication was poor. We had different tour guides for each city/place. In Edfu temple, we had a situation that no one communicated with us prior arrival to there so we just went and wondered there ourselves till the actual tour guide found us and explained that he had to give us a tour (but how could we know?);
– Some of our tour guides couldn’t really speak English well or didn’t understand the questions;
– In our staying in Cairo and on the ship there was a poor internet connection, we could just send messages with it (you can forget about your TikTok for the time of that trip);
– Train to/from Cairo was torture. From Cairo to Aswan it arrived 3 hours later which messed up our program for a day, from Luxor to Cairo it was late for only 2 hours; The train is sitting, but in the first class we got wide chairs which inclined for the almost horizontal position;

Schöne Tour mit gutem Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Die Abholungen haben super funktioniert und organisatorisch gab es keine Probleme. Unser Reiseleiter Mohamed war einfach super, hat perfekt Deutsch gesprochen und uns ganz viel über die einzelnen Sehenswürdigkeiten erzählt – ein perfekter Guide von Anfang bis Ende. Die Mitarbeiter am Schiff waren alle freundlich und zuvorkommend – wir haben uns sehr umsorgt gefühlt. Verbesserungsvorschlag: Mehr regionale Küche an Board und WLAN kostenlos anbieten oder am ganzen Schiff verfügbar machen. Alles in allem: Ein tolles Erlebnis!
