Our guide was both knowledgable and enthusiastic. There is nothing he doesn’t know about whiskey and its origins. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend it.

  2. Jeremy_S

James was a fantastic guide. He presented great local history and history of each of our whiskeys. James tailered the whiskeys presented so that each person had samples of something they would especially enjoy.

  3. Liz_v

Very good whisly tasting. This is one of those places where you think: where am i? It is so hidden and a cool location. The persons who explained things about the whisky also had a lot of knowledge.

We had a great experience with our whiskey tasting! We actually ended up having a private tasting but the experience was so worth it! Our guide was so knowledgeable and answered all our questions. My husband is a whiskey drinker though I’m not, but our guide was still able to find us both whiskeys we enjoyed and help us understand the difference. I would highly recommend and the overall cave experience was impressive.

Mark was so knowledgeable about whiskey! We were the only ones on this particular tour. He answered all our questions!

  6. EvelynNeale

James is awesome. He is really passionate about the whiskey, the distilleries and the history. We had the higher ticket and James took the time to match our palette to the whiskeys he served us. A small group unique experience in a very cool space. Highly highly recommend.

  7. IZABELA_M

James was our guide! Amazing experience we had! Great surprise! Place is lost path in the heart of Edinburgh

  8. Jacquelyn_C

Awesome tasting and experience! We did the intermediate and loved the selections – would highly recommend the intermediate or high-end selection. Sarah was an awesome host, very knowledgeable and such a friendly and talkative personality – handled a couple “toasted” patrons crazy well, too, and made the experience fun for all of us!

  9. Alison_L

We had a lovely time learning about the history from Sara and tasting new varieties of whisky. The group was fun and I would recommend this tour to all!

This is in the basement of the Code Pod hostel on the Royal mile of Edinburgh. If you are claustrophobic this is not the tour for you. You go down narrow steps and you are in a very narrow booth in a very narrow area.
We didn’t realize there were two options and the scotch quality that you get was based on what we paid. The guide told us that 3 of us were getting lesser quality and the others were getting higher quality. Just charge the same price for everyone so we can all get the same.

An spooky underground former jail cell, learning about whisky, fascinating storytelling, and sipping whisky – what’s not to love! I liked this experience so much I went on two separate trips to Edinburgh. Thanks much!

Great tour Nancy was our guide for the evening she was extremely informative all things whisky and her passion for the wee drop was evident. The tunnel’s room provided the extra drama for the evening. Good tour for the start of whisky sampling in Scotland

Wasn’t sure what to expect….thought we might visit a few pubs. Not at all….so much better than that. Quaint room in the Lost Close. Super interesting experience, yummy varied whiskey and our guide Nicki was great! I highly recommend this tour.

Really enjoyed the trip, knowledgeable host and the drinks were excellent.

Mark did an excellent presentation of the differing types of whisky and regions. For a non-whisky drinker, I was impressed by some offerings. Very knowledgeable about Scotland and her whisky.
