Alec was an incredible tour guide, fun, knowledgeable, a great storyteller and made the experience a cut above any others. The day was rich with spectacular and unforgettable experiences. There was so much to see and do and the weather was sublime. I would go again tomorrow! One of the magical experiences in this gorgeous island.

we were a group of ladies in our 80’s and had an absolute ball.
    Highly recommend !
    Tour Guide was magnificent !

Great tour guide and lovely group but the weather kind of screwed up the trip. It was foggy and raining heavily as we headed to wineglass bay so we were unable to see much and heading to the lookouts seemed a bad idea. We ended up going to a small historic town and stopping at other scenic and touristy spots which was alright. Definitely go with Alex if going to wineglass bay! But don’t go if the weather isn’t looking great.

Excellent views along the way. Tour guide Alessandro shared his knowledge about the areas/places we visited. Ice-cream at Kate’s Berry Farm topped of the day. It was a very long day.

  8. Lisa_S

Our tour guide, Alex, was great.
It was so worth the view, when you got to the top and saw wine glass bay.

  9. Angela_H

A packed full day of great sights, information and experiences all led by Alex , a friendly and intuitive tour leader. The walk to the lookout at Wineglass Bay is challenging but well worth the effort for those who are fit and able to do it.

One of the best tours in Hobart I’ve been on, the Wineglass bay tour was a truly memorable one! Alex was such a fun, engaging & informative guide who had so much to share about how Wineglass bay, Honeymoon bay & Richmond came to be. He was also aware & catered very well to the diverse needs and interests of the group! In addition to the sights mentioned above, we also visited Kate’s Berry Farm, Coles Bay & stopped at Devil’s corner for lunch. A tour I would highly recommend for anyone looking to explore Freycinet without a car!

Saw some stunning sights & hiked with the entire group to wineglass bay. Throughly enjoyed myself on this tour!

Alex is a great host and very personable. Bus ride was bumpy and there was a lot of driving. Lunch at 2pm is too late. First food stop was too early

Great view from the Wineglass Bay lookout. More time could have been spent on this walk – I felt it was rushed – instead of the hour spent at the winery for lunch afterwards, and then another stop at a berry farm which seemed to be pointless.

Alex was a great host on our full day tour. I know some people complain about the other stops. I liked them. It helped provide some variety to the day.
One part of our day that was rather miserable was the weather. Be prepared! It was a feels like of 43 degrees F and extremely windy. I had five layers on and was fine. Some people in our group were not prepared and were rather cold all day. We had trail shoes on. You can easily do this in regular tennis shoes, but need some tread on the bottom. There are slick, often wet rocks that form stairs.
The hike to the overlook is a little intense for those who do not workout. We live just about sea level and found it a little challenging to climb the mountains. There was a trail and many steps to climb.
We scrambled to get something for breakfast in the morning, which was inadequate. There was a planned stop at a bakery maybe 30 minutes from Hobart. We were able to get hot sandwiches and pastries. We didn’t know about the stop. We also stopped at a winery for lunch.
The one major drawback to this tour is the amount of time in the van. The park is a long way from Hobart. I still think it was worth it. You get to see a lot of the eastern part of the island and a beautiful park.

The walk to the lookout was tough but so worth it. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole tour. Alex, the tour operator, planned the tour well and was extremely helpful. He made sure everyone felt included. Would definitely recommend Alex’s tour to anyone wanting a day trip to Freycinet area.

Loved Richmond! Great having a smaller group& a wonderful commentary from Alex. Would definitely recommend this trip.

  18. Christine_M

The climb to view Wineglass Bay, and scenery around Cape Tourville was breathtaking. We had lunch sitting on the rocks at Honeymoon Bay another stunning area. Unfortunately Richmond had a stop at the Bridge and rest was a quick drive through, unable to take photos through the bus, because of this. The day had extra stops that didn’t seem to be on the itinerary, however was requested by a few.

Very knowledgeable guide. He entertained us all day. Nice spots chosen to visit. Great place for lunch. Loved the lookouts we visited. Best value for money. Alex packed in a lot without any of us feeling rushed and had a wonderful sense of humour and reveal. He also made all nations feel welcome.

Our group of ladies had a lovely day with Alex our tour guide who was friendly and very knowledgeable about the locations that we stopped at throughout the day. Alex was also very accommodating if any of our tour bus guests needed anything during the trip.
It is a long day but we knew that before signing up to the tour and we had lots of fun along the way playing trivia on the bus with one of my group reading out the questions, listening to music, seeing the beautiful scenery, chatting, eating snacks, laughing and having regular stops along the way.
Thanks Alex for a memorable day.
Dominique on behalf our our DWEW group.
