Ahmed, our guide is educated, cultured, decent, and when I got a little accident, he showed his human face. The location, although not close to Muscat, provides a wonderful experience. It’s worth it!

Our guide was so knowledgeable and friendly. He taught us a lot of cultural stories during the long drive. Wadi Shab need a tough walking. He always finds a good route for was and helped us very careful all the time. During the walking, he also greeting and helping people passed by all the time. Such a nice guy!!

We did this day tour from the port coming off a cruise ship. The guide met us at the cruise port gates and we began our trip. The drive was less than 1.5 hr. He was so friendly that time flew by. We really did not know what to expect in Oman or this tour, but it was absolutely amazing. The hike through the rocky terrain was beautiful albeit scary for some afraid of heights. The water and getting to the cave was well worth it. Definitely bring shoes for rocks that can get wet and are not slippery. I was worried about what to wear as a female but just some yoga like pants and a shirt was fine. After wadi shab, we stopped for lunch overlooking the sea, then on to the lake and then ended with a tour of the city. We definitely think the tour guide was a huge part in the success of this tour. My husband who is incredibly skeptical of these things said it was the best excursion or tour he has ever done and he loved Oman

The experience of Wadi Shab is not to be missed – a great day out. Doing it as a private tour through Viator was a mistake though as the cost was totally over the top for the 2 of us. Our fault this as we arranged things very last minute.
Health and safety is never mentioned before or during the trip but be aware you need to be a reasonably capable swimmer to do the full trip into the cave at the end. En-route rocks can be very slippery but with care it is a great experience. The dress code does not seem to be as strictly adhered to as we were led to believe and was very relaxed. The wadi is well worth seeing even if you don’t do the swim.
Bimmah Sinkhole was worth seeing and with more time would have been worth a swim.
The lunch included in our package was very basic as were the refreshments provided on our journey – 4 dates, a paper cup of coffee/tea from a roadside vendor and bottled water.

I think the description and pictures do not do this trip justice! Much better than expected – cliff jumping into the wadi was amazing. Great lunch of Omani grilled chicken/fish with lots of sides and lime mint juice!
What really made this trip memorable was the guide, Ilyas. Very informative and super engaging – you can tell he definitely has a passion for his job. Even went out of his way to take us Khanjar shopping after the tour. Thank you, Ilyas!!

was a really fun tour! Wadi Shab and the sink hole were amazing. Our Russian guide was v informative and guided us through the wadi. Would highly recommend. Def don’t do it if your fitness level isn’t good or if you are not a competent swimmer or not coordinated… easy to slip on the rocks etc.

Abdullah was great; he was very helpful and made sure we were all doing good during the hike and the swim. He ensured that our little group stayed together as I was lagging a bit behind. Lunch location was great and the food delicious. Abdullah has a great sense of humor; we had a really good time.

We had a wonderful day with Ilyas! He was kind, thoughtful and patient as we walked to the Wadi Shab. It is a 30-45 walk on a very hot day but very worth it! Lots of water was provided and the lunch was delicious!

Great tour for a hot day! My guide allowed plenty of time to swim and was very knowledgeable of the area. You have the option of bringing your phone in a plastic pouch during the swimming so you can take photos during the swimming and cave portion. Lunch spot was great as well. Would highly recommend

Ilyas was a fantastic and very professional guide with an amazing depth of Omani history to share. We travelled with our family, with teenage young adult children. I was a bit nervous with the hike – in high summer it can be exhausting with temperatures in the high 30’s and the swimming spots are deep in parts. The final “hidden cave” is a bit scary as you need to swim in a narrow gorge. Ilyas was very reassuring and indicated the spots for rest along the way – we always felt very safe. I don’t think i would have enjoyed or felt safe on this trip without such a professional guide. The scenery is stunning. Lunch was in a fantastic local restaurant with authentic local fare. Would highly recommend.

Wadi Shab is a must see if you are in Oman! For this adventure we requested a private guide and were matched with Mahmood. He is absolutely amazing, professional and spoiled us! Mahmood was on time to pick us up and we were immediately on our way. As we drove, he shared cultural information and even stopped to make us a popular Omani snack. After ~ 1.5 hours, we arrived and began the hike through Wadi Shab, which is no small feat. With the guidance of Mahmood, we felt safe, secure and comfortable. He was patient, knew when we needed a short water break and even carried comfort items such as oranges and an umbrella to help block the sun. We had ample time to enjoy the pools and cave, taking a ton of photos. Our trek out of Wadi Shab seemed 10x easier than our hike in, perhaps due to the level of trust we built with Mahmood heading in. On our drive home, we stopped for a delicious feast of fish, meat, salads and juice. We then enjoyed Omani coffee and a few extra special traditional treats.
I was a bit nervous going into this adventure, due to several other posts stating dangers such as heights, heat, cliffs, etc. The heat was intense and the hike is ~40 minutes. You are literally climbing large rocks and a few times on a high, narrow ledge, but I never felt unsafe (and I have a fear of heights). My partner and I are in our early 50’s and semi-fit and we were fine with the physical requirements (were hiking shoes/water socks). I’d say the heat and unknown going in were the scariest part of the adventure, but once you get to the first pool, you realize the beauty and understand the hype; thus, forget about everything else:)

Aziz was an amazing guide and we had read very positive reviews before selecting his tour. We can confirm the positive reviews. He is genuine, informative, and caring. Aziz has strong knowledge of Omani history and current events. By the end of the trip we felt he was part of the family. The experience exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend Aziz.

Highlight of our holiday in Muscat! Muhannad was a great guide, helping us navigate the boat, hike and swim. We also loved visiting his village for lunch and learning about day to day life in Oman. We will never forget this day – the landscape we hiked through is absolutely stunning and the swim to the cave was a unique experience. If you are not a strong swimmer don’t be afraid to take the life jacket option – this made all the difference for us. Also I would really recommend water shoes as the river beds can be quite sharp and slippery. Absolutely brilliant day in the wonderful natural landscape of Oman – so glad we did decided to do this!

Faisal was an excellent tour guide. He shared great stories of Oman during the ~4 hour round trip to/from Wadi Shab. Once we got there, we took a 1 minute boat ride, 45 minute hike, then got to the wadi to begin swimming. He knew we didn’t have a go pro or waterproof phone carrier so purposely bought one on the trip for use. He took pictures and videos the entire time and sent it to us afterwards. We even jumped off a few cliffs overall amazing tour on an amazing trip!
Fyi you should be a really a strong swimmer or have a life vest. The cave swimming is no joke. There’a almost no area to rest once inside the caves.
