Fun and interesting. Good time to go with someone special to share the moment of happiness and excitement.

We loved how Maggie presented herself and the information. She was great. Besides the “ghosts” she gave us a terrific history of Edinburgh we might not have known about.
Tanya_B –
Really fun tour of some of the darker historic bits of Edinburgh, Scotland. The guide was knowledgeable and gave some epic jump scares! 10/10 recommend.
Mary_B –
Horrible tour, our guide aka Dr Knox skipped thebSmith statue since one person didnt care then focused heavily on the non anatomically correct statute parts of the King’s horse parts then others . Very disappointed in the underground portion. Went into a valut area thru and old flat. The guide thought being sarcastic with patrons was funny and a very large pottion of the time you could not hear him at all. Waste of money on this tour . Started the tour off asking the children in the groupnif foul language was okay ..appeared as if one family was but not the other…

Had some chills and laughs. Learned some interesting history. I have only taken the tour once but I am sure the red witch is the best guide. Bravo!

Although I was really looking forward to this tour, I don’t think it was quite as good as it had potential to be. We did the 6:45pm tour and with it not going dark for several hours later, it did not quite have that spooky feel. Our guide, although knowledgeable wasn’t the best story teller and the stories that were told could have been so much better with some live actors which I’ve experienced on previous ghost tours. Overall, I think you could get the same ghost/gruesome stories from one of the cities free walking tours.

My group did the Underground Tour with “Major Weir” (male with a hat and dark eyeshadow) and it was honestly one of the worst ghost tours I’ve ever been on, and I’ve been on many in different towns and countries. From the jump he kept awkwardly flirting with some of the women on the tour, and that just didn’t stop for the entire duration. It was embarrassing to watch and cringey. Not to mention he spoke very quietly and mumbly so we couldn’t all catch what he was saying. I learned more from overhearing the tours we passed by than from the guide himself. Several people just left the tour entirely either halfway or near the end. My group and I ended up staying at the last spot and chatting with some of the people who left the tour a bit early, and they too agreed he did such a poor job. Though the stops were interesting, I will not be recommending this to anyone.

The story telling was poor and not well done at all. It was not engaging or interesting at all. Have done other Dark history tours in other cities that were much better. Our particular guide was nice bur not a good storyteller
Loretta_B –
There was truth in the story but wasn’t very ghost like. The close was very dark and dangerous to walk
Lindsey_F –
We were truly disappointed with our tour. We noticed there were other groups were having more fun and more engaged. We have never been on a ghost tour where our guide told us to hurry up when we had an elderly person and kids with us. Couldn’t always hear the guide talking because he was talking down and not very engaging. Upsetting night.

Was not worth the money! Guide was just ok. We saw other groups having fun and laughing, not us. Would not recommend!

This was on our first day in Edinburgh, and if the rest of our trip is as AMAZING. Our tour guy, Denty, was the best part.I would go on any tour he was leading!!!!!!!
kristin_k –
Our guide “Dr Knox” was fantastic. He was able to entice the participation of the entire group and maintain the role of his sinister character while relaying fascinating history about the city. He was superb!!!!
Suguna_K –
Our host was in such a hurry that when we got left behind in a traffic light he rushed off without waiting and we couldn’t see him and the group. My husband and I were the oldest couple in the group and he didn’t think it necessary to watch out and check if we had crossed the road with the rest. We didn’t see the underground if there was any and the tour of the graves is not worth mentioning.Very disappointing.
Amy_M –
The Red Witch was amazing. Great tour full of stories and history! She was very interactive with the tour group.
Adolfo_Z –
Horrible! I would give it zero stars if I could. It was NOT a ghost tour so why advertise it as such? It was a history tour. If I wanted a history tour, I would have booked one.
It also wasn’t much of an underground tour as we were only underground once for a brief time. Why not call it as it is – “A Historical Walking Tour”. Very very misleading
Our tour guide was not very good at all. He was not engaging and sounded like a boring history professor
Fiona_L –
We spent very little time underground and our tour was wrought with a drunk bridal party that caused a great deal of distraction. The tour guide did his best to control the group but was very distracted. We would have loved to do less walking so we could hear the tour guide tell more stories. He was a good presenter we just wanted to hear more. Overall, a bit cheesy.
Louise_C –
Wanted to try out a ghost tour while in Edinburgh for the night. It really wasn’t for us and we fall behind and headed to the pub!
Georgia_C –
We had a lovely time. Our tour guide black John was great, very entertaining. Creepy and cool. We would definitely recommend to others.
Margaret_T –
I don’t know if this was an unusual tour, or if this is indicative of Viator’s tour guides, but this was the worst by far I’ve been on in any city. It was more like a historical tour, and we wanted to hear about the hauntings of the locations more than the history. In all of Greyfriars Kirk cemetery, we stood in front of one mausoleum and didn’t hear about hardly any of the other people buried there or supernatural experiences. Really disappointing.
