Really expensive to sit in jungle and see nothing- 136 pounds for 2 people!. I do understand there are no guarantees but no option to go again. Our party was full of children and people who kept talking making noise so reduced chances significantly to see Orangutans. I hope that most of the money goes to the centre where they can spend on conservation.
Our driver guide David was very nice and showed us some videos from a couple of days before.

To our surprise, we were picked up by a Sarawak Forestry licensed park guide for our tour to the Semenggoh Orangutan Wildlife centre.
Picked up on time from our resort, we were taken directly to the park to be on time for the morning feeding session.
Whilst waiting for the rest of the crowd to arrive, we were treated to a visit by a mother and youngster in the trees above. After a quick briefing, we walked about 200 metre into the rainforest to a specially made viewing platform, where were graced by the presence of the Richie, the Alpha Male of the Semenggoh park. He kept us entertained for about 40 minutes and then he left and some younger Orangs came down to feed.
After returning to the meeting point, we were then shown the croc enclosure and also the education centre where more details can be learnt about the Park and its Orang families Also the history of rehabilitation and now care and maintenance of the population of Orangs is detailed on wall posters.
Our guide showed us some of the flora, such as the pitcher plants growing in the area.
As the tour was only a half day, our guide was kind enough to alter our tour by dropping us off in Kuching Chinatown for the afternoon. Here, our guide showed us the best eating spots, coffee shops, and shopping malls. We made our own way back to our hotel.
    Worth doing?
Yes! If you want to see wild and semi wild Orangutans in their natural habitat
Not if you want up close and a touchy-feely experience with baby orangs
Thank you Lim Ann Kok Our Guide and all others for a memorable experience!

Great half day tour. We took the morning tour, which gets you to the feeding platform at Semenggoh in plenty of time for the 9:00 AM morning feeding. The Centre only allows a one hour visit during the feeding, so we really appreciated that the tour picked us up at our Kuching hotel on time. Our guide David was professional, friendly and spoke great English. We were so lucky that this day we saw eleven orangutans, including all three alpha flange males that reside at Semenggoh, several moms with babies and adolescents doing their acrobatics. In fact, one of the alpha males was sitting in a tree in the parking lot watching the action, got great photos! There are two feeding areas at Sememggoh, and we saw orangutans at both platforms. The gift shop has a wonderful information board about the individual orangutans who reside at the Centre. The orangutans are semi-wild and are free to come and go as they see fit. It was a not-to-be-missed experience. Visited on March 12, 2017.

GREAT morning trip. You should book the 8.00 departure to see the feeding at 9.00, we saw 4 orangutans, that’s very lucky there were no sightings the previous day. It’s a chance you take looking for wild animals.

We had a wonderful time visiting the orangutan center. We saw a number of orangutans, including two families with their babies. It was a sight we will never forget. Our guide David was very courteous and helpful and gallantly brought our car to us when it started pouring rain. After all, we were in the rain forest. Highly recommended, but be sure to protect yourself from the mosquitoes.
