What an amazing day! Dont be intimidated by the duration of the drive up the Sani Pass, it is absolutely worth it, and theres no other way to see it. And, you do want to see it, trust me. This tour is so incredible. The company is great-reliable, ethical–highly recommend!

Sotiri from First Zulu Safaris is a guide extraordinaire! He and his son Christos and tour guide Pieter far exceeded our high expectations. In fact Sotiri and his son have become our friends and we happily engaged Sotiri for other trips and transports. We couldn’t have been more pleased, and know that you will be too!

Ndomiso is a charming, informative, tour guide and a skilled 4×4 driver. The vistas are majestic and continuously breathtaking this tour was the highlight of my visit to Durban.
One hiccup: the Viator information on the website, as well as the person answering the phones at 1st Zulu Safaris, indicated that hotel pick-up is the only option, when, as it turns out, consistent with their policy of dropping off at private homes and guesthouses, you can be picked up from them, as well. I made an unnecessary early morning trip to a hotel not 10 minutes from where I was staying, only to discover that Ndomiso had shown up at the house to puck me up! Fortunately, there was only one other tourist to pick up, but had there been more, the tardiness caused by miscommunication could have been a significant impediment given the duration of the journey.

Great guide! Def. an adventure going up the mountain and was pleasant to visit the Soho Village. The Sani pass view was amazing and just great to take it all in. Nice all day adventure.

This was a life changing experience. The guide picked us up in Durban. We went there and back in one day, I definitely recommend splitting this into a two day excursion as it is an exhausting day. This excursion is dangerous but we were in good hands with our experienced driver. Lesotho was otherworldly, like nothing I have ever seen. Guides did a good job of giving us the context of their civilization and cultural. I cannot put into words what it is like to journey to this isolated, beautiful, vast, heart wrenching place. The drive up was extreme. Lots of rocking and big bumps for several hours, NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. My only concern was my guide was exhausted on the way back to Durban. Going too fast and risky that last leg. For your own safety, split up into two days.

We actually did a different trip to the above and went to Giants Castle and the cave paintings as the Sani pass had been shut by the rain which had fallen. This was a nice trip though and our guides Benson and Frederick were good and very knowledgeable. We had a nice walk in the mountains and also visited the Nelson Mandela capture site and Howick falls. A very enjoyable day out.

Was a great outing. The Tour guide was very fiendly and a very good driver with experience driving the 4×4 on the steep gravel slopes. Beautiful views.

Late messages close to midnight pressuring me to accept earlier pickup time of 5am to fit their schedule.
They also confirmed two day tours before I had confirmed their proposals.
I would have cancelled due to their u reasonable behaviour but had especially booked flights to do the Sani Pass tour.

It’s a very long day and a bumpy, exhausting drive but well worth it. The Pass is remarkable and hard to describe. The visit to the village in Lesotho is a highlight. Our guide was great. Would recommend.

Sehr schöne Tour. Für eine Person zu 256 Euro gebucht. Am Tag waren dann aber zwei Personen in der Gruppe, also eigentlich 2×177 Euro, leider vorab keine Nachfrage oder entsprechende Ermäßigung.

The tour was simply fantastic. The communication with Zulu Safaris before the tour was quick and uncomplicated. Our guide Sotiris was very friendly and made sure the whole time that the tour met our expectations. He was happy to explain and share his vast knowledge of the area and culture without being pushy. Again and again he made short stops at beautiful viewpoints for photos. He knew how to manage the time on this long day and to set the perfect focus. Lesotho and the Drakensberg were beautiful and the people there welcomed us very kindly and were visibly happy about Sotiris – he seemed like part of their family. Although the trip was very long, Sotiris drove very safely from start to finish and did not take any risky driving manoeuvres even when it got late. In summary: The tour was a real highlight for me and I am very glad that I did it with Zulu Safaris. I can recommend it without reservation.

I changed my hotel last minute but they accommodated with with no issues. It’s a longggg bumpy drive but very scenic. The sani pass road is unpaved and terrifying but Benson is an awesome driver. Got us up smoothly and safely. It’s a very long drive so grab some water and some snacks and don’t forget your passport. The border crossing are a breeze. Highly Recommend!

We had an AMAZING day with our great guide Benson. Everything was arranged very well, from pick-up to drop-off.
The experience is truly exceptional. The mountain roads to Lesotho are stunning, we felt very safe with Benson. You make enough stops to enjoy the breathtaking views. The country of Lesotho is inspiring to experience in a heartbeat. We felt very blessed to get to do this day.
Thank you so much Benson for this unforgettable day.

Benson the guide was a great driver.
Long but beautiful drive and amazing views along the way.
Views obscured by cloud on the SA side but thats nobody’s fault and is still an epic ride up the pass and still views on the Lesotho side.
