We had a fantastic guide and excellent mix of animals. Lion park was amazing, being able to get close to lions and elephants. At the private reserve we got to see so many animals including rhinos, hippos, giraffes, zebras and many more. Fantastic way to see many animals in a short time.

Would highly recommend! The guide was extremely knowledgeable and personable. He steered us to see every type of animal in the park up close.

Zulu Safaris picked us up at the Durban cruise terminal upon our arrival, and took four of us in a Land Rover to the Lion Park where we saw lions and elephants (kept separately) and fed by the owners. Then to the Tala Game Reserve where the animals run wild. Plenty to see! Great guide and assistant! They gave us our money’s worth and more.

Excellent half day tour of two game parks from Durban to the KwalZulu-Natal region of South Africa. The tour started with a pick-up at the Durban cruise terminal. Our cruise ship was delayed entering the port – but our guide/drive waited patiently for us & another cruise couple for the ship to finally dock. The drive in our guide’s safari vehicle took some time before arriving at the Natal Lion Park. The game drive was within a rather small park area but we were able to view an elephant (more tame than wild) and a pride of lions in a separate section of the reserve. For some reason we did not stop at the nearby African Prey Sanctuary (not a major issue). The next stop was at the Tala Private Game Reserve. Our tour guide carefully drove & positioned the vehicle to let us observe and photograph most of the reserve’s wildlife. We were able to view/photograph giraffes, zebras, warthogs, wildebeasts, ostriches, a group of rhinoceros and various types of antelopes. Our guide/driver was very professional and knowledgeable of the reserve’s wildlife which made the drive very enjoyable.

This is the worst tour we have ever booked with Viator. A crowded old van, with little or no AC, windows were not clean, Wonder our guide was hard to understand, with little or no information of what we were seeing, he got lost for one and a half hours, had to ask a stranger for directions, plus only visited two of the three Game Parks scheduled. My advice stay away from this tour.

Non refundable confirmed reservations made through Viator.com. After rearranging our schedule, 5 hours after the reservations were made, 12hours before the trip the operator canceled our trip due to overlooking. If we had canceled the trip I would have forfeited $314.00. Who pays when Viator or the operator cancels?

Freddie our tour guide was great and super friendly. Our best experience was feeding apples to the elephants.
    Highly recommend the tour.

We booked this excursion based on the description which was supposed to be on an air condition vehicle. We were supposed to be picked up sharp at 8. When the representative showed up, he said the our vehicle is currently some where else & he was willing to drive us there along with 4 other people. All 6 of us were jam packed like a sardines in a small SUV. 15 minutes later we were dropped off at the other location where the vehicle was waiting for other guests. 3 showed up & we drove to another pickup location. Now is almost 9 am & still running around town. When we all complained about the heat & asked to have the AC on, our guide advised us that this vehicle is not equipped to AC as has not been installed yet. ( too expensive).
After driving for an hour, (in an heated car), our guide suggested a quick washroom stop which took about 45 minutes to collect everyone again. We finally arrive at our first stop, Natal Lion Park. We all sitting inside this hot van which was like a sauna. Terrible experience. Never imagined to be treated like this by the Viator.

Très belle excursion, nous étions 6 amis et avons tous aimé. Notre guide a fait beaucoup d’efforts pour que nous puissions voir le plus d’animaux possibles.

The service was amazing. It was a breath taking experience. Safe for solo travelers. Beautiful and well kept animals.

I would add a photo BUT the driver and bus did not show up on time.
We organized a taxi for ourselves, as all other tour buses had left on time and the last taxis were leaving.
I asked for a refund but the company has denied it.
Other tour operators commented that the previous week, 120 passengers were left stranded by this Viator based company.

Pünktliche Abholung vom Schiff. Sehr netter Guide. Tala Reservat ok, Löwen-Park bzw.

Incredible! We were surprised by how nice this tour was. Our guide Aaron was a gentleman, so courteous and accommodating. He met us on the pier and drove us through two lovely preserves. We saw 10 kinds of animals, including lions, Elephants, elands, rhinos, giraffes and Ostrich. We highly recommend this tour!

First, our guide, Benson, was very nice and polite. He was the best part of the tour. The Lion Park stop was comical. Should have been marketed as an “Old Folks Home For Lions In A Small Enclave”. Clearly not worth any entrance fee. The elephant part wasn’t even petting zoo quality. The elephants were in a small fenced in area and were clearly trained to take food from guests as they immediately came to the fence when we arrived and put their trunks through the fence. Not what a wildlife experience is or should be. Bad teaching for both animals and humans and the trainers expected a tip. This place should be shuttered permanently. Then onto Tala Game Preserve, which should be marketed as “Tala Open Zoo”. Yes, they had some rhinos, zebra, giraffes, hippos (viewed from afar with binoculars), and an assortment of “antelopes”. The operative word here is “some”. No herds. Not a good safari experience at all. Sorry to say, but facts are facts. We did not expect 5 Star, but we expected better than 2 Star. We have been to other private game reserves which were 5 Star or better.

Benson our guide was very knowledgeable and polite. He was really willing to help us get the best angles to see the animals.

  18. Andrea_E

It was a great experience. The Zulu Natal Lions Park was not so good, we saw only 3 lions in a very small habitat, not much better than a Zoo. The other Park was great. We saw lots of Zebras, Antilopen, Rhinos and Ostriches. The Jeep driver was great too.

  19. Denis_M

Brilliant tour. Well explained and the animals were so close. The guide was so professional and was very approachable. We enjoyed our tour immensely and we were left back to our hotel as planned. Really made our holiday. Thanks
