I’ve been lucky to visit the Hunter Valley a few times, but this tour with Dave’s was truly the best we’ve done. Visited awesome wineries, learnt so much about wine and had lots of fun along the way. Greg the guide really should us a great time!

If you are looking for a wine tour in the Hunter Valley this is the one! The variety of tastings from the three beautiful wineries and distillery was great. Lunch was delicious. A bunch of photo opportunities. Our tour guide Crystal (Dave) was amazing! Very knowledgeable and fun. She got us around safely and effficiently. Highly recommend!

We visited 3 wineries, 2 of which were quite good (Oakvale and Hunter Wine Lab), while the 3rd one was so-so. The gin distillery served spirits with glitter in them, which felt a bit gimmicky and cheap, and I didn’t find the experience worth our time. The lunch was pizza with salad, which tasted good.
Unfortunately, the tour has a HUGE drawback which is the van used. It’s a small old van for 11 passengers that moves too much and induces car sickness. To make things worse, we sat on the last row of seats, which was smaller and narrower than all the other seats, and didn’t even have headrests. The seat is absurdly uncomfortable, especially because you spend 6 hours on it (considering the trip to Hunter Valley and back). If the company still intends to use this van, it should either allow only one passenger to sit on it or give a hefty discount for the people assigned to it since it feels like you’re getting the short end of the stick. We later learned that the company does many tours inside Sydney, which would explain the small van, but they really should use more comfortable vehicles for a Hunter Valley tour.
What saved our day and made us enjoy the tour was our rockstar guide, Crystal. She’s very knowledgeable about wine and the region and was able to give us plenty of interesting information. When we told her about the car sickness and how uncomfortable we were feeling, she immediately passed on our complaint to the management office and checked on us the whole trip. For the ride back, she asked other passengers to switch seats, which made the journey more comfortable for us.
To summarize, Crystal is a perfect guide for a Hunter Valley tour, and anyone would have an amazing time being in her group, but the company’s poor vehicle makes it hard to recommend Dave’s tour since you’ll be in a tight rocky van for 6 hours.

Col/Colin/Leni/Dave – All the same person LOL was very knowledgable, funny and interacted with all the guests on the tour. Never rush anyone. The winery’s were fabulous and he was totally correct about the Chardonnay:) The lunch was delicious and accommodated all palates. One of the best days we had while on holiday in Sydney. Dave’s tours has great vibes, great hosts, and great itinerary. We were able to travel to the Hunter for a few winery tastings, chocolate and cheese pairings, and gin/vodka/liquor tasting while enjoying a breathtaking view. Not to mention my tastebuds keep thinking about the wood fire pizza lunch! Yum! Thank you Erin for all the Sydney recommendations too. Recommend for those that like wine, like good company, and/or liqueur and want to explore out of the city for a day!
