All in all it was a great boat tour. The food was excellent. The crew on board was super friendly and helpful. Our tour guide “Mi” was super friendly, shared a lot of knowledge with us and repeated things if necessary. She was contactable at any time. The program was a standard tourist program. Mass processing as with all other boats. The program of the tour reads more than it actually is. For example, the “cooking class” means that everyone rolls 2 spring rolls and explains what’s inside. It was all over in 10-15 minutes. I would have liked more special offers on the ship. Nothing happened after dinner. The room cabins were larger than expected. But the beds were very hard and there was a lack of storage space because there was virtually no piece of furniture in it. We only got the information that plastic bottles are not allowed to be taken on the ship for environmental reasons on the bus, when everything was already bought.

Check and double check your pickup time. My app said 0730-0800, but when we called support, there was an email in junk saying 0830-0850.
Even though it is not anywhere on this itinerary, on the way to the harbour, they MAKE you go to the oyster farm tourist trap for a half hour. Everything is $$$$.
The cruise ship itself was so nice! Rooms are great, dining room is luxurious, top deck is gorgeous. Crew was super accommodating and kind however a language barrier does exist. If you’re with a small group, they will make you sit for meals with the strangers you just met. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing of course.
When going out to kayak/ti top, make sure you bring clothes and money and camera because it’s all one trip.
Squid fishing seems like it’s hardly successful ever.
Spring roll ‘cooking class’ is literally just you rolling up pre prepared ingredients in rice paper. Not at all a cooking class. Tasted good tho!

For the price point, it was a great trip. The boat was nice and the rooms well kept. The guide Alex was very friendly and helpful and knowledgeable about the history and geology of the attractions. The food was pretty decent too. Wished the kayaking would have been longer and also the other downside was that the squid fishing was pretty dismal since there was no bait or nothing. Otherwise i enjoyed the trip very much and Ha Long bay is really beautiful 🙂 Transfers were rather fuss-free as well although the buses were super packed
