My wife and I had a great time with Mike on the food tour in Seoul! He took us through several markets and highlights around Seoul, while teaching us about Korea’s food culture with a bit of history. We really enjoyed not having to think about searching for specific food to eat and what to eat at certain markets as Mike provided suggestions for everything while also giving our group the freedom to pick certain dishes when we ordered several for the table. This experience it not to be missed and will really make your trip so Seoul one to remember! I will definitely join any new tours Mike creates and curates in the future!

By FAR one of the best tours I have had in many a year. Mike is funny, knowledgeable, energetic and downright a good guy. The squirming squid was soooo much fun to eat, the lessons on the range of Soju available and the tastings provided were outstanding. And the duration of the tour was perfect. I never once felt rushed, pressured into buying something or felt like I was taken somewhere because he got a kickback. Instead I often felt like I was getting special treatment because Mike was a “local” who frequented their establishments.
I think the tour attracts some fun people and I mad a couple of friends on that tour who I still talk almost a year later. Mike also went out of his way to try and help me find some good food when I texted him while I was down in Jeju which just solidified my opinion of what a solid guy he is just willing to help people understand, love and enjoy not only Korean cuisine but the culture and the everyday life.

This was such a great experience! Mike was superb, introducing us to various food stalls, getting us the “in” on popular street stalls, it was marvellous! The term “off the beaten” track was not used lightly, Mike brought us to places that we would never ever find on our own, or even stumble onto, and these were all superb. My family enjoyed the food tour and it is a highlight of our trip. Mike also responded to requests for food recommendations AFTER the trip. It was a real plus. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and book him now!

We started off at a rapid pace, trying multiple Korean dishes in a packed marketplace. From there, the pace slowed and we got to enjoy several types of makgeolli, which you could tell is Mike’s passion. It was like having a sommelier for Korean rice wine (or rice beer, as Mike more aptly described it regarding both taste and alcohol content). The food was delicious, but for me this stop is what made the tour stand out from the rest due to Mike’s expertise and personality. We went to two other locations after the drinking stop, and enjoyed all of them; really glad he took us to the tented areas that are slowly dying out as well. If you like trying food and drink, sign up for this tour- you won’t regret it!
Also – if you’re traveling solo or as a couple, these types of food and drink tours are a great way to socialize with other folks.

The trip was great with the exception of the fact that I could only eat half the dishes tried as I have some food allergies. It’d have been fine had I been in a group that didn’t want shellfish or fish but such is life. So paying the same at each stop where I could only eat half of what was on offered did suck but I still had a great time and would definitely recommend for others to do. Just be prepared that you might not leave as full depending on the group that you are with.
