Kayak and snorkeling were fun. I only did canoe and just found kayak is a bit longer and heavier. Not sure if I’m correct. Tour guides are fantastic and patient when they are tutoring. One thing slightly disappointing is that the snorkel equipments are bit old. And they don’t provide fins.

This tour became the highlight of our stay on the Gold Coast. The day was very well run and organised, with the tour guides providing all equipment (kayaks, paddles, life jackets, snorkel gear and wet bags), basically leaving us to come prepared for some fun! Our guides – Alex, Matteo and Carol were all great! A little demo was provided at the start of the day to help those inexperienced with kayaking gain some knowledge. The trip starts from Biggera Waters and makes its way to Wavebreak Island. It’s a decent but non strenuous paddle over. Plenty of staff are poised through the group to help out during the kayak over. Once the kayaks are beached there’s a short walk over to the east part of the island through the local sand dunes and floral which was actually a great experience in itself. The guides gave us a really informative little spiel about the island and its history. From there, we snorkelled and swam observing local fish and oysters on the rocks, we were even able to spot a few dolphins 50m away which was incredible. Snacks were provided on the beach. Then the group returned to shore. The only negative I’d say is that the waters at Wavebreak Island are a little murky so the viability of the fish isn’t the greatest but enough to get a good look. The tour was really wonderful – a great experience and lots of fun! Would highly recommend. Some pointers for these considering booking – water, towels and sunscreen are not provided so bring your own, experience kayaking or snorkelling are not necessary (demo provided) and also pack a pair of dry clothes to change into after the tour – you will certainly get wet kayaking.

Have a little concern about the snorkeling gear since we need to put it into our mouths. Maybe some disinfectant can be provided.
