The enthusiasm and theatricality of the presenter, Philip, hearing about social history and connecting 1888 London locations to present time and space.

Excellent tour. Well organised and interesting. Angie was an entertaining Ripperologist who’s knowledge and humour made the tour captivating. Highly recommended.

My family lived in the Whitechapel \Bishopsgate area and it was quite an experience to be told about the squalid conditions they lived in and the horrors of Jack the Ripper to contend with as well. Our guide was Angie and she was brilliant. we h..ad a chat to her after the tour and she was passionate about her job and very respectful of the women who died at the hands of Jack.

  7. Barbara_L

Our guide, Angie, did an amazing job of recreating events from 135 yrs ago in today’s very different landscape. Her enthusiasm for the topic is genuine and she takes great care to ensure that participants are engaged. Well done Angie!

My issue was not with the tour itself, but how to find the meeting point. We were told Aldgate East station, and at Whitechappell and Leman. Well, there are THREE Aldgate East stations. And guess what, there are absolutely NO street signage in Downtown London. And further, did you know there are two WhiteChappell? One is Whitechappell High and then it becomes Whitechappell Road. Needless to say our Mapquest became very confused and led us into an extremely BAD part of town. After walking way out of our way, we turned around and I called the emergency number who was able to give us store names that steered us to the correct spot. Also, it said it was across from Aldgate Tower. Well, you got that right, there is no signage on what building is Aldgate Tower. We were exhausted by the time we got to the tour. I guess I didn’t realize this was a 2 hour 15” tour and we could barely walk after a full day exploring London.. The tour guide was very knowledgeable but I don’t give Viatour high marks on navigating your customers to the correct spot. It became very dangerous for us in where we ended up.

Knowledgeable guide who didn’t waste time on padding. Fairly fast paced tour and our guide was keen to interact with patrons and answer questions. Painted a comprehensive picture of the East End of London where the story takes place.

This may sound a bit disturbing given the title of the tour but it was a fun evening. We had a wonderful and entertaining guide in Philip. He brought the history and stories to life. Give it a try.

  18. Jackie_P

Jeremy was our tour guide. There were about 37 people (not including Jeremy) on this walking tour. At first I was skeptical because there were so many of us, but Jeremy was energetic, enthusiastic, and engaging.
During the tour through Whitechapel, he’d make sure we were all settled in a specific area before he spoke. It was clear he liked what he was doing, he was knowledgeable, and he knew how to work with a large crowd. This made the tour worthwhile.
It was pretty cool to “walk back through time”.😊

  19. Pam_P

Excellent, tour guide was so full of knowledge and passionate at what she does.
Lots of history, high on safety for all the group
