Justin provided great local insight and passion regarding food. We love to get to know a place by the food and Justin did a good job of entertaining and educating us about local lore and food while introducing our group the the local flavors from Cape Malay to modern international. Great tour.
Kevin H –
We started our very first day in Cape Town with this food tour. Justin led our tour and showed us a great time with a variety of different foods from different cultures found in Cape Town. There were six stops in total and Justin made sure to follow-up with each of us with personalized recommendations for the rest of our stay! Great tour company to work with and would highly recommend.

This food walking tour was absolutely delightful! Ally was such a friendly and informative guide…more like a friend than a guide. VERY generous portions, including beer tastings and mixology lesson with lovely cocktails and interesting facts. We walked at a very leisurely pace and explored some off the
Beaten path neighborhoods. Be prepared to eat and sample lots of great foods. And a very nice local dessert! Great tour!
Alison_D –
Great & varied selection of food and drink. Justin is very knowledgeable & this is backed up by the staff at each location.
Converted to great coffee & biltong.
Reena_K –
Justin was the BEST! We loved how friendly and knowledgeable he was. We also had great food and drinks across the whole experience and loved getting to explore and walk around the city. I would have preferred more food vs. drinks, but my friend who was with me was happy that it was an even split of the two. We especially loved the coffee tasting and the malay curry.

We have taken a lot of food tours and this one was the best! The owner was extremely nice and knowledgeable. The places she took us to were excellent and with good size portions. We left full and happy!

Our entire tour with Justin was fantastic! Justin is one of the best tour guides we have ever had and we’ve traveled all over the world. He is extremely knowledgeable and lots of fun to be with. The places he took us were fantastic and the food that we had was wonderful. I would highly recommend this tour and also recommend Justin as he is a fantastic tour guide.

This is an awesome and delicious way to get to know Cape Town. Led by a friendly & informative guide, each stop was unique in both foods and beverages, strung together with interesting historic and current stories about Cape Town and its people. Although it cannot be planned, the small group setup allows for enjoyable interactions with other international tourist. Accommodations for food allergies and preferences were made for our group.

My wife and I can not recommend this food tour enough. We were pleasantly surprised at every turn. Justin, our guide, was knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating, and entertaining. We were taken to local places that the guide had personal experience with. We sampled the local cuisine in a comfortable, inviting atmosphere. The tour was able to accommodate my wife’s vegetarian dietary restrictions. The culture and history were provided to add context to the food and area. He was able to answer all our questions with great detail. It felt more like a conversation than a one-sided lecture, which we really appreciated. We opted for the alcoholic version and were given a tasting of some of the local wines, beers, and gins of the area. All the food was delicious. Justin provided a recap of all the locations and further recommendations. I would not change anything about the tour. The next time we are in Cape Town, we will not hesitate to call Cape Town Culinary Tours again.

Justin, our guide is super knowledgeable, enthusiastic and interesting. The tour itself was excellent going from the history and tastes of authentic ground coffee through the Malay influence to English pub food, with an twist to finish with gin tasting paired with hand made original flavoured ice creams. Really couldn’t be better.
Do at the start of your stay as you will want to revisit some of the places or Justin’s tips.

This tour certainly has delicious food and drinks. What makes it truly memorable though, is Justin’s knowledge of local and national history. In addition he is a botanist that makes learning of the local flora and fascinating if anyone on the tour has an interest. He is very adaptable and open to discussing whatever the tour group wants to cover. I highly recommend any tour that he gives!

An amazing experience and our guide, Justin, was extremely knowledgeable. I would highly recommend and the food and drinks were great!

We had Justin as our guide and he was great. We went to a coffee house, a cafe, a Portuguese restaurant, and gin tasting.
Overall experience was fantastic. We were introduced to some food that we never had a chance to try in the States.
Definitely recommend it as the first tour in Capetown because Justin was able to make recommendations and fill us in on the history of the city.
PRO:
Guide was great, super knowledgeable. small group, and great food.
CON:
Time spent on coffee house was a bit long. Tight schedule.

Justin was a brilliant guide, passionate about his city, the food and culture. Visited some places we would not have found but will return too, so happy to have gotten this onsite.

A wonderful way to spend a day in Cape Town. Justin was a lovely guide and all the spots he took us to were unique & delicious.

Our tour was phenomenal, Justin was amazing, took his time, answered all questions and shared much history and knowledge.

Wow! Our first time to Cape Town. We decided to do this tour on our first day to get oriented. It met all expectations and then some. We got lucky as my wife and I were the only ones on that day’s tour. Our guide Justin is a wealth of knowledge of the history and the culture of the city and country. It was a fairly easy walk about town, stopping at four restaurants to sample food. It’s a lot of food. We made the mistake of eating a full hotel breakfast before. Starting on an empty stomach is highly recommended!
John_F –
Justin took us on an authentic journey through food to understand the history, social norms, and culture of Cape Town and South Africa. Justin’s passion and intellect made the food and fellowship truly enjoyable. Come with curiosity and an appetite!
Patty_S –
Justin was so affable and so knowledgeable. There was a nice variety of stops with lots of food and a lot of history.
Carlos_T –
Loved the experience. Tasting local foods at 4 different locations. From breakfast pastry with tea to local cuisine. Justin was our guide and he knows a lot about local history and culinary tendencies. I would recommend this tour to anyone coming to Cape Town.
