This 1-day tour is simply amazing. It does not matter if you are not a fan of Lord of the Rings. The trip in the 4×4 car is nice, as well as the informative and joking talk of the tour guide I am sorry I can’t remember his name. The timing of the tour is also worth as you can’t feel anyone is hurrying up and you also can’t feel you are slacking around and wasting your time. The lunch is provided at a hostal in the surrounding area of Mount Sunday and involves a sandwich, champagne and a biscuit. Personally, I did not drink champagne so I would vote to have Neo Zealand wine as a B option -they also provide orange juice. Not mentioning the landscape which is simply breathtaking. I would certainly take this tour once again.

We enjoyed this tour with the wonderful picnic lunch and the climb to the top of Mount Sunday. Our guide was fun and helpful. We would definitely recommend this tour.

This was a brilliant tour, well worth the money and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is staying in Christchurch. The tour guide was informative and entertaining, including everyone in the tour and full of interesting information. He had lots of information about the places we were seeing as well as New Zealand as a whole. To be able to stand on top of Mt Sunday, especially with the snow creating a winter wonderland effect, was excellent. This tour made my holiday and I would definitely look at similar tours in the future.

Great tour even if one’s not a fan of LOTR. The scenery is simply breathtaking and worth the trip. The tour guide Maria was very knowledgeable and an awesome companion for the trip. Highly recommended.

The Edoras is hard to drive to so a tour is definitely a better option. When I booked the tour I had the doubt if it might be worth it but after the whole day I’d say it is definitely worthwhile. Very helpful and friendly driver and tour guide contributed to a very organised day trip.

We took the Journey to Edoras tour on April 1. The weather was clear and still, our guide was friendly, and we had beautiful views of Mount Sunday and the surrounding valley. Our guide had pictures of what it looked like when they filmed, and you could be forgiven for expecting a troop of horsemen to come across the plain. Lots of time for pictures on the hill, and a nice lunch, too. We even met a herd of curious goats along the way. Recommended for both LOTR fans and anyone who wants to see some stunning scenery.

This tour was incredible! As a Lord of the Rings fan it was a fantastic experience! The tour guide was knowledgeable and fun. While it was a long drive they stopped as needed and played behind the scenes videos etc. to keep us entertained for the drive. Once at Mt. Sunday we were driven on to the mountain and did a small walk up to the top for an incredible photo opportunity and time to explore. However, be prepared for strong winds while on top.

Maria picked us up at our hotel a few minutes early. I love it when people are timely. 🙂 We spent the day learning loads about Christchurch and the Canterbury region in addition to the film locations. Since the footing was slippery due to snow the day before, we didn’t go up the hill. I think her alternative was even better! She took us further up the valley so we could see Helms Deep. Lunch was fairly basic picnic fare, but delish and fresh. She had keys to get places the general public can’t go, and driving through a river is pretty fun. A can’t recommend this tour highly enough – do yourself a favor and go if you’re traveling through Christchurch.

Weather wasnt great and i had my doubts, but Chris kept it positive and im pretty sure he arranged the snow and clouds to disappear to give us the most wonderful day of our holiday. Jaw dropping scenery. Great commentary. Cosy small group. Loved it.

    An absolutely enjoyable trip
Collected on time kept fully informed by Stephen about where we were going and what we going to be doing. The final part of the journey was after heavy rain in the area so the rivers were full. This led to some proper off road driving. The walk to the top of Esteros was not too tiring ( I am 70 years young)
The views are wonderful and well worth the journey

Amazing view from Edoras and an entertaining drive with 6weel bus ,one must do experience for every LOTR fan absolutely !

This was a scenic and at times exciting tour but a bit too long. Lunch was very good at the farm station. The lake stops were not as interesting as Edoras where more time could have been spent.

Really enjoyable tour. Our guide was friendly, informative and articulate with interesting insights on New Zealand and the site where one of the scenes from Lord of Rings was filmed. Quite beautiful. Richard

Great experience. We were only 2 for the tour, so it was quite intimate, and Maria the guide was amazing ! I can’t recommend it more

The tour of Edoras/Mt. Sunday was a great experience. If you are a LOTR fan, you must go! So many photo opportunities to be had out there.
I had Maria as a tour guide and she did an incredible job giving little details about how and why this location was chosen for the LOTR films. Not only that, but she also had many details of what happened while they filmed there. It was all quite interesting! The lunch was fantastic as well.
Thank you, Maria! You did an amazing job and you are amazing person!

Great trip! Lots to look at and lots of stories shared by our guide, Steve. Steve was great and kept us informed about all places we were passing through as well as at the LOTR site itself. Well worth it!
