A great trip as we saw a male sperm whale on the surface and then diving. We saw him a second time plus lots of dolphins, an orca and an albatross. I had never seen a whale before so to see one in the open sea was brilliant. Well run and interesting commentary. Take sea-sickness precautions if you need to; it seemed like a calm sea but we bounced around over the surface. They sell medication at the ticket office.

Kaikoura Whalewatch knows these waters! They knew where to go to find a sperm whale, then dusky dolphins! Very expert in what they do.
I was also thrilled to read that the founders are descendants of Paikea, the ‘whale rider.’ A tremendous success story!
I actually was not impressed with GetYourGuide, as they scheduled us the wrong date, but Kaikoura Whalewatch got us on so we could have our adventure!!

We had a lovely Whale Watch cruise – weather fine but sea choppy but we were well warned to take ea sick tablets for a pleasant experience and these were alo available for us to buy. We were delighted to spend possibly 15 mins watching a whale surface and eventually dive again. e were also lucky to see a pod of dolphins playing near the boat as we returned to land. Well recommended Cruise.
