This was a full day adventure that we would recommend to anyone. Our tour guide from RAH tourism, Aleem, was fantastic and had so much knowledge to share. There was a lot of travel involved, because we were staying in Dubai, but that didn’t hinder the amazing time we had. We left Dubai around 8:30 AM and traveled to Abu Dhabi for the tour of the Grand Mosque (about 1hr 15 min). We had a little extra time, so Aleem took us to a local museum/art gallery, the Miraj Museum, which was a nice little stop over. The Grand Mosque is epic….hot outside…..but epic. They blast AC inside though, which was nice. Ladies, be sure to cover head to toe! My sleeves didn’t go the whole way down to my wrists, but no fear! Aleem had a set of sleeves that he let me borrow. After we left there and got back to Dubai, we had about an hour or so before the trip to the desert was to leave, so Aleem recommended that we check out the Dubai Marina, so he dropped us off there and picked us up. It’s a great spot to grab a bite to eat, coffee and some pics.
The desert safari tour was fantastic as well and so entertaining. We had to pick up a couple of other couples on the way, so it was about 1 hr 30 min by the time we got to the riding place in the desert. The dune bashing was actually done in a 4 wheel drive vehicle, which was great because it was so hot out, so the AC was welcomed. I didn’t know an SUV could move through/up and over sand dunes like that! Our driver was a wild man, and made it super fun. Then, they offer a quad ride as well, which some others in our group did, but it wasn’t included in our package, so we stayed back at this little market place. They had a couple of shops, refreshments, and a hut with AC. I got a scarf and the salesman helped me wrap it around my head in the traditional way. Once the rest of our crew got back, we drove about another 30 min to a spot in the desert where they set up an oasis/camp where the rest of the activities were for the remainder of the evening. Here we rode camels, tried sand boarding, ate dinner, and watched the shows. They also have a bunch of other things to do here (henna tattos, hookah lounge, photo ops), but we didn’t have time to do it all. For the seating, I would highly recommend getting a front row seat! They offer you to upgrade to AC huts, which we were thinking about doing, but I’m glad we declined. We got front row and the entertainment was amazing!!!
All in all a fantastic day full of adventure and thanks to a great tour guide Aleem!
