Despite poor weather we had a great day out at Ocean Road. This is a must do experience for locals or visitors and as all the driving is taken care of its also the easiest way to see all the sites which are spectacular. Our driver “Jack” was excellent throughout, informative and had loads on jokes to share along the way. Calling at the 12 Apostles there is a opportunity for anyone wishing to see the the coast from a helicoptor for about $145. One of our party went and said it was great. We saw it on foot along with the rest of the party. As mentioned the weather on returning through the Rainforest, Apollo Bay and Lorne was awful and cant say too much about these places. On a sunny day – Lorne would be a good spot to visit and even stay. Our last stop was at a Chocolate Factory which was very good. All the party loved this place. Overall a long day but well worth.

Our guide GUI is the best tourist guide I have ever met. He is attentive to all the needs of everyone, young & old. You can get to see amazing sight of nature, in addition to learning some history about these places from our knowledgable guide GUI. Although it’s a one day trip, it doesn’t feel rush and we get to relax and enjoy the scenery in all the sites. And oh, we got an extra bonus stop to view the 12 apostles too!!

Matthew was our wonderful tour guide on Sunday 20 February! Communication was clear from Hit the Road Tours advising time of pickupm (the premium tour includes hotel pick up and drop off). Matthew called in the morning as well to advise approximate ETA and all went smoothly. Throughout the trip Matthew was engaging and informative and gave us bits of trivia here and there to entertain us too. He even thanked the group for being very timely and after all the wonderful spots on the itinerary, Matthew gave us an extra stop to check out the Great Ocean road chocolaterie and ice creamery too (so worth it!). When one of the tour group asked if we could stop for ice cream, Matthew obliged and we all got to have an ice cream at Apollo Bay on the way back! He told us very clearly it’s because we kept to time at every view stop too, so we felt like this was a bonus part of the tour and a little reward. Matthew was friendly and really clear on where to go, where to be careful (eg, Gibson’s Steps) recommended time to spend at some places where there was multiple things to see, to enjoy all the places in the time we had etc… and of course helped take pics for many of us.
The tour was a small group of about 10-12 and everyone said his they all enjoyed it at the end of the day. We all applauded and cheered for Matthew! Matthew even gave people the option to dropped off at Flinders station rather than the pickup spot at State theatre which many people took up. One couple asked for a recommendation for pizza and Matthew offered to drop them off at Lygon St as it was in his way north after the tour which was so generous of Matthew and indicative of his general helpful nature in to of being out your guide!
It was a fairly long day, so pack a jacket to layer up as you may get cold and of course, comfy walking shoes.

The beautiful drive from Melbourne to the ocean. Lovely farmlands and forest scenery with a stop to see Koalas out in nature. Great guiding and opportunity to get out of the vehicle and walk about. Stunning 12 Apostles visit and time for a nice lunch in a seaside village. Highly recommended tour.

Jimmy was a great tour guide throughout the day-long trip. Jimmy had solid knowledge of the sites, while also providing random trivia knowledge about Victoria and Australia. Jimmy gave us ample time at each of the stops, while also keeping check of time so that we would get back to Melbourne with limited traffic. Definitely a worthwhile trip.

What a spectacular day! Jimmy was a great tour guide and an excellent koala spotter! We saw 4! The coast is stunning. Seeing the power of the water and how it has shaped the sandstone to create the Apostles and incredible cliffs is breathtaking! A not to be missed tour. The reverse itinerary meant fewer people were competing to see the views! Best option. Highly recommend.
