The hot air ballon ride was amazing and the tour was great. Our tour guide was very knowledgable and his driver was helpful and courteous. The pickup however, was chaotic. The transport van had been overbooked and some were not willing to give up their children’s seat when me and my friend arrived. We did get a seat and the tour went on without a hitch. When we arrived back in Instanbul we were unable to locate the transporation van and ended up having to get a taxi to our hotel. I woould not recomment booking this tour via Viator. You can easily make your own ground transporation, hotel arranagements and hot air balloon ride reservations seperately.

Hotel (The Capadocia Hotel) and excursions were excellent. Balloon ride was very poorly managed with no communication on the day of ride.

  3. Luan_H

Everything was very nice! We’d love to do it again. Food was delicious! Even the hotel in the cave really amazing.

  4. MOHDJURES_M

Everything’s perfect from our pickup from/to istanbul, the red and green tour, the cave hotel, and of course the once in a lifetime experience of hot air balloon. It’s truly magical!

  5. Ramiro_D

The trip was great, the hotel 1811 was fantastic and the coordination between shuttles, rides, flights and of course the air ballon flight was fantastic! We really enjoyed it

I was confused by the excursion title and thought we were taking a hot air balloon to Cappadocia. Everyone takes the plane and the balloon ride is an optional excursion the following morning. It was cold but the sunrise balloon ride was breathtaking! The caves and tunnels were absolutely amazing! We went to several local craft demonstrations and showrooms – be prepared for salespeople following you everywhere, high touristy prices, and lots of haggling.

While I didn’t get to do the balloon ride due to weather. There is still so much to see and do. My tour guide adjusted accordingly to still see all that was on the list. Busra definitely knew her stuff!

Awful. Wasted half the time in shops that the tour guide had fitted into the itinerary themselves. We did not get much time on ANY of the actual sights. They VERY reluctantly agreed to cut out the shopping places on the 2nd day when the entire group specifically requested, but snuck 2/3 shops back in at the end of the day. Some customers had to miss out on scheduled sites to catch their flights as a result.
The tour guide seemed to hate their job, and would disappear to chitchat with other tourguides at any given chance, i.e. when we were left in a shop or restaurant, which was 40% of the time. When they did make an effort to engage, they’d only engage the English-speaking white people in the group (only 4 out of 10 people on our first day). Seriously, they barely bothered to look at, address, or even inform us on basic logistics.
We actually asked to leave the tour on the second day in the hope that we could salvage our limited time in Cappadocia, but eventually changed out mind when the tour guide falsely promised to make changes to the itinerary. I guess that one’s on us. Never again.

Wonderful experience at the sights of Goreme Open Air Museum, on the Hot Air Balloon, in the underground city, and during visits to the Pigeon Valley and Imagination Valley. Knowledgeable tour guide and aside from unnecessary stops at a jewelry store, pottery place, and rug shop, well focused on the highlights.
Transit and communication were not up to par. When first dropped at our hotel, we were not told when to expect to meet with our tour guide and waited almost an hour (which would not be a problem if we knew when to expect pick-up). We called and messaged but did not get any answers.
After arriving at the airport in Istanbul on our return, we were meant to be provided transport to our hotel, but were told our booking had been cancelled. After calling repeatedly to talk to the organizers, we were able to get that sorted, but it caused a stressful 45 min delay to get on the road.

Would have been a great experience as we saw several balloons as we drove in to the area, buttttttt, unfortunately all balloons were cancelled for the next day for which we had reserved. We had no additional time so no balloon ride after planning and paying for it 9 months before. Sucked. Not Viator’s fault, but really did suck. Otherwise all was ok. The hotel we were placed in was out in the boondocks. A decent view, but nothing around and the hotel did not serve dinner. Then to top that off, the hotel forced us to pay cash, as their credit card processor “wasn’t working” that day……

The 1811 cave hotel was exceptional. Our guide was very knowledgeable as well as passionate about everything. The balloon ride was definitely one off the bucket list. Will be back.

    Most pleasant and knowledgeable guide.
Made every stop very interesting with his
    Vast knowledge.
I would highly recommend this guide .

Must include in a trip to Turkey due to Landscape and historical sites of the region. Balloon ride wa amazing

  15. Yuki_U

Excellent tour guide! Knowledgeable and very thoughtful. That’s all I have to say about this tour.
We couldn’t go to the balloon ride. Refund process is somewhat unknown. I think the company needs to send how the refund will be taken place immediately after the tour was cancelled.
When can I get the refund?
    Otherwise, the tour was good.

  16. Beryl_L

Our tour guides both excellent: Omit and Eda.
Covered a lot of territory with time for pictures. I realize that the visits to three of the most important industries was necessary but at times it seemed like visits were for spending opportunities. However, all three presentations were interesting: leather goods, carpets, and pottery
Hotel was delightful and their breakfast outstanding
Good value for money considering inclusion of flight and overnight accommodation.
HOWEVER, the reason for only three stars was the total lack of communication between Viator and the local Turkish tour operator..our pickup upon arrival to Cappadocia was disorganized and clear communication for pick up upon arrival at Istanbul airport from Kayseri after tour was again not organized and clear. Because of our wait getting to the hotel on time the touring schedule had to be adjusted

  17. Sushil_G

Guides were knowledgeable, comfortable transportation, airport pick ups were on time even when flights were delayed, day was packed with lot of action.

  18. Mariska_v

Shuttles were on time, tour guides and drivers very friendly! Hot air balloon was a bucket list item, absolutely unbelievable. My only recommendation would be to shield the clients from the harassment of sellers in the pottery, carpet and jewellery shops. It just became too much – it spoiled the beautiful days and trips to an extent.

I want attention to the Viator Team on this Trip . I have usually used for the past one year several amazing and value for money experiences in Madrid last year and this year in Iceland a few weeks ago .. also I used with my Kids the Yacht tour in Istanbul . Alll were excellent and well arraned. This trip to Capadoccia was amazingly arranged , unfortunately for the weather the Ballon ride got cancelled , no fault of your s , but I think the Price for the trip per person that I paid was over the top considerings only had hotel transfers , hotel stay and 2 day tours,. The trip guides and arrangements were all great , but I think were over priced thats all . I trust viator still and used the same and paid the same but after the trip felt was un reasonable..thats all./.Amit

Balloon ride was spectacular. Except that we were put into a much bigger “basket” which had 28 passengers + 2 pilots!!! That was very crowded – and much more than what was advertised! That was a disappointment.
The trip to “underground city” was amazing and interesting.
I would recommend this package – if the participants can be put into a smaller “balloon basket” – after all, this is THE highlight of the trip!
The Cave Hotel (1811) is a bit far from the downtown core – where all the food and shops are. Yeah, you can walk there in 30 min (downhill), but you may need more effort and time to walk back (up hill). The 1811 Cave Hotel is very unique (had a good experience), it is neat and tidy. The staffs are helpful and pleasant. Very enjoyable experience.
Tour guides are very pleasant and knowledgeable. We enjoyed most of the sightseeing POI’s.
