We were a group of 3 traveling together expecting to have to share our safari pop top van with others. Luckily, we had the van to ourselves with just our driver/guide Leonard! For the most part, we had a fantastic time – lots of animal sightings, a beautiful sunset, etc. It is a budge safari, so don’t expect luxurious accommodations and gourmet meals. That said, we thought the food and tent/hotel were fine. There was a mix up on the first day. Right before heading out for our first game drive, Leonard told us that he did not have enough money to cover the park fees. We spoke to Peter the safari organizer on the phone. He explained that they needed to borrow the from us, but it would be paid back the next day. As the voucher clearly states that the National Park fees are included in the tour price, we were not very happy and let him know it. What if we didn’t bring extra US dollars with us on the safari? Peter agreed to throw in a free boat cruise on Lake Naivasha on our travel day to Lake Nakura for our troubles. It was one of the highlights of the trip, and a great way to break up a long day of driving. Our money was also returned – in US dollars – the next day. Peter explained in an e-mail later that the driver picked up the wrong envelope when leaving the office to pick us up.
