Our guide was Roberta, who met us promptly a the designated location (the beautiful Teatro Massimo Gates) and was easily visible. Our tour led us through two markets and throughout neighborhoods of Palermo and although, perhaps, you end up spending more for the food and drink than you would have if you purchased independent of the tour, these are places it is likely I would not have independently gone and such a tour is perfect for those with a short time in Palermo, or even those with a longer time like us that wanted an understanding of the two major food markets and food within it. The food covered were arancini, chick pea fritters, beer, sweet wine, cheese, sfincione, a ricotta and spinach brioche, spleen sandwich, gelato (fantastic). Also a trip to touristic kiosks and Palermo’s oldest bar, to buy things and deep explanations of the food, the theater and the culture. Well worth it from our end!

We had a great time. We tried things we wouldn’t have tried otherwise (spleen, tripe, zibibbo). He was great with our kids (15,12 and 6). He included them and kept them engaged. The tour took about 2.5 hours. I would recommend bringing water with you.
