In the morning, the bus picked us up at the meeting place just in time. The $25 deposit was handed over in cash, so I put it in an envelope, sealed it tightly with glue, and wrote the reservation number and name on the envelope. I was alone, so I was worried about going around the island.

We were picked up by the shuttle directly at the hostel, but then had to scour other hotels for about an hour. Exchanging vouchers and getting bikes was easy & the ferry rides were also without problems. However, you shouldn’t ride the bike with the expectation of seeing many quokkas on the way, you can find them directly in the “Settlement” next to the harbor. You can also explore the island by bus, definitely better when it’s windy, because the hills cost us a lot of strength and nerves, and in the end we chose the shortest route because we lost interest. Total distance would have been about 22km. The shuttle back should have been better as we would have been lost without the help of the counter clerk. The shuttle left before the departure time and had to come back to pick us up. It might make sense to rake it off in the future, as it did on the outward journey.

Fantastic experience on Rottnest Island. Perfect way to explore the island by bike. The ferry was great – would suggest taking a place on top in case you have motion sickness. The bikes are top quality and I have oils highly recommend this activity for your time in Perth / Fremantle.
