The Marmottan Monet Museum, located in Paris’s 16th arrondissement near the Bois de Boulogne, is a prestigious art museum dedicated primarily to the works of Claude Monet. The museum is housed in a former hunting lodge originally built for the Duke of Valmy and later purchased by Jules Marmottan in 1882. His son, Paul Marmottan, an avid collector and historian, expanded the collection and bequeathed the building and collections to the Académie des Beaux-Arts. The museum officially opened to the public in 1934.
