Colonia is a lovely little town on the coast. The 1 hour tour with Angeles was fantastic to give an overall history and social development of the area. Time to potter around on ones own was welcome but the way my ferry time fell (8.30am departure to Colonia and 8.30pm return to BA) it was too long so this is something that visitors should bear in mind.

The experience and service provided by Get Your Guide was good but travellers should be aware they need to allow quite a lot of time for going through two sets of immigration at both ends.
Short but informative guided tour and only in English for our group.
Overall well worth the money and love Colonia.

It is a nice day out if you are in Buenos Aires. We went during summer time (December) and the weather was beautiful, however you need plenty of suncreams as you spend most of the time walking around the town. The ferry ride was punctual and very comfortable.
Uruguay it is quite expensive so make sure you plan your spendings there.
