Are you looking for an unforgettable way to see the Windy City? Do you want to enjoy panoramic views of the skyline, the lakefront, and four neighboring states? Do you want to feel the thrill of tilting over the edge of a 1,000-foot skyscraper?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you need to book your ticket to the John Hancock Observatory, also known as 360 CHICAGO. This is the ultimate destination for anyone who wants to experience the best of Chicago from above.

What is the John Hancock Observatory?

The John Hancock Observatory is located on the 94th floor of the John Hancock Center, one of the most iconic buildings in Chicago. The observatory offers breathtaking views of Chicago from 1,000 feet above the famed Magnificent Mile. You can see as far as Wisconsin, Michigan, and Indiana on a clear day, and marvel at the beauty of Lake Michigan and the city’s landmarks.

But the observatory is more than just a place to admire the scenery. It also offers a variety of attractions and activities that will make your visit memorable and fun.

What can you do at the John Hancock Observatory?

Here are some of the things you can do at the John Hancock Observatory:

CloudBar also offers snacks and light bites to satisfy your hunger.
  • Magnicity App: If you want to learn more about the view and the history of Chicago, download the Magnicity App on your smartphone. This app is a virtual guide that will enhance your visit with interactive features and information. You can zoom in on the details, discover the stories behind the landmarks, and even see how the view changes with the seasons and the time of day.
  • 360 Sky Yoga: If you’re looking for a unique way to exercise and unwind, join the 360 Sky Yoga class. This is a weekly event that takes place on Saturday mornings, where you can practice your sun salutations from 1,000 feet closer to the sun. The class is suitable for all levels, and it includes a general admission ticket, an hour yoga session, and a Kikwetu Cold Brew Coffee or Mimosa.

  1. GetYourGuide traveler

i bought tickets in advance to skip the line but we had to stand in line for the security check and for the elevators. The elevator line went quickly and we only stood in line a few minutes. Elevators took us up real fast. I suggest chewing gum on the elevator as it helps with the popping of the ears. it was an amazing site to see but the tilt we didn’t buy with our ticket because i wasn’t for sure if my family wanted to do it and by the time they wanted to do it, it was all sold out. Not sure when they’d open it again but not while we were there.

  2. GetYourGuide traveler

I am afraid of heights, going to this attraction was not to my liking, but I had to do it. The most impressive thing is that the elevator goes up 90 floors in 1 minute. nor does it feel once you open the doors, on the 95th floor a view of spectacular Chicago opens up. I could see the city from afar, never close to the windows, I felt dizzy and nervous and I enjoyed the experience. I highly recommend it for others who are afraid of heights to treat their phobia of being exposed to it. I never enjoyed it as much as when I left that site.

  3. GetYourGuide traveler

You will get excellent view of the lake and the city. There is a cute coffee shop and bar as well. We did not like that you have to pay extra for the “tilt” experience. Which truly only lasts 60 seconds and you have to pay $10 on top of the already pricey entrance fee. There isn’t THAT much to do at the top which makes the experience for the money feel a little underwhelming. It is still a good place to go though, especially with guests who are visiting or for tourists of the city.
