We really enjoyed the Gordon River cruise, even more so as we not only sailed past the mouth of the river, but also because we had a very interesting guided tour on Sarah’s island as well as a 1/2 hour rain forest walk. The boat was comfortable and there is plenty of space to move around, sit outside and even visit the pilot’s deck.

The whole day was brilliant! We were lucky that we had close to perfect weather which made the cruise even better! The crew were fantastic, the boat was very comfortable and well equiped, the lunch was delicious and the cruise itself was a really great day out. Definitely worth the experience 😊

We thoroughly enjoyed the whole trip, although misty rain most of the time at Sarah island ,the history infor was very good and the auto on the vessel was amazing, the food and morning tea was yummo..A must do trip while in Tassie,,it would be too expensive for a family of 3 teenagers however,,When booking there was no area to book a senior fare,,,,,we missed a discount of 4 seniors,,,,it was very good,,

A good day out on the water to see the beautiful wilderness areas of the Gordon river. Very comfortable boat

Hell’ Gate, Gordon River we’re high lights. However the weather was overcast and occasional light rain did not show it off to best advantage.

We both enjoyed our trip on the cruise and the talk about Sarah Island. And about the Huon pine. Learned more what the convicts went through in the 1840s.

  12. Philip_C

The history lesson of Sarah Island was very informative, the staff member delivered it theatrically and fun. We Didn’t know anything about the island until the cruise, as the history books seem to have skipped this part of Australian history. The lunch was delicious and staff friendly and helpful. Well worth the money

For me i felt little boring the speaker or the commentator could have had more volume in it.
It is good to enjoy natural beauty

What a fabulous day. Starting with the boat itself which was luxurious and comfortable giving a great vantage point to see the sights of the harbour and the river. The commentary and video presentations were informative and interesting. The captain was very friendly and has a great sense of humour. The guides on both the Sarah Island and Rainforest Boardwalk were very entertaining and the information they shared with us was really interesting. A great day out and a must see on the west coast.

Could not fault any aspect of the whole cruise experience. Would also highly recommend the following live theatrical production of “The Ship that never was”.

We were very lucky to have great weather on the day. Great staff onboard & very informative commentary by the captain. Beautiful boat! Very informative tour of Sarah island but just felt a bit rushed. We would’ve liked a bit more time there as it’s such a unique place.
Gordon river scenery stunning. How lucky we are to be able to experience this gem!
Meals onboard lovely. Great day overall-highly recommended.

This is an exceptional tour. It is excellent value for money because of the comfort, quality of information, diverse experiences, amenity, close exposure, entertainment and the absolute privilege of being able to walk in this incredible part of the planet. The lunch includes smoked salmon, pesto chicken, salads, chocolate pudding and cheese and biccies. Cash is best for any extra items as there is no internet reception beyond the Harbour. Info provided in personal stories covers geology, First Nations lore, ecology, the story of piner cutters, miners, convicts, pioneers, evil-doers and heroes. The captain’s bridge is open and accessible for questions throughout the tour. The tour guides at Sarah Island, and later, within the forest were animated and informative. We were dropped home to see a woodmill demonstration. This cruise was a wonderful highlight of our trip and very enjoyable. Highly recommended.
