Nothing prepares you for the beauty of the Kuang Si Waterfalls. We really enjoyed this tour. Mr. Song was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide. We learned a lot about the waterfalls, the bears in the adjoining Bear Sanctuary, and the types of plants in the area. He also took us for a quick visit to a small Hmong village, and to see where the Mekong meets the Nam Khan. At the end of the tour, he gave us many tips on what to see in Luang Prabang. We felt very fortunate to have a guide who truly loves his city.

We really enjoyed this tour. If you’re comfortable renting a motorbike in Laos, you can easily see these sights on your own and that might be the way to go. However, my wife and I are not comfortable on rented scooters, so this tour was perfect for us. The guide spoke good English and was very knowledgable. We started in themorning market which was completely different than the night market and very local oriented so we really enjoyed it. Lots of big local fish and meat and all the ingredients needed for local cooking. We stopped at a couple of small villages and got a weaving demonstration. Many opportunities to buy things. The Kuang Si Waterfall is gorgeous and an absolute must see if you are in Luang Prabang. I was actually quite surprised by the natural beauty of the falls and the swimming was good. Our guide was with us all the way. That’s why if you can rent a motor bike and get there on your own, it might give you more time and freedom to explore the falls as you wish. They provided a good meal at a table almost at the waters edge with a beautiful view. Good tour and guide, and a great way to get to the waterfalls.

Great guide and driver saved us a lot of additional planning for this side trip. The highlight of course was the trip to the waterfalls. Truly a dream world. Seeing the Sun and Moon bears on the way into the park was also interesting. Lunch at the falls was a good touch – eating right by the main falls. Food was just O.K. We stopped at a local village on the way and walked through where some families had their kids dressed up selling handicrafts. This being a very poor third world country we did feel this was an intrusion into their lives. I suppose getting a dollar or two here and there helps, but you can’t help feeling you are the gaudy foreigner sticking your nose into their – what could be called at best – very sad plight in life. Tour included a visit to a loal market which you may not get to see otherwise. Definitely a different world from what we were used to.

“La” our tourguide was incredibly knowledgable, patient, and enthusiastic. It exceeded our expectations and ended up being one of my favorite spots in Asia. The waterfall is even more beautiful than the pictures. Would hands down plan another trip here with the same tourguide/company.

The tour covered pretty much everything I wanted to see in Luang Prabang on my short weekend. It forced me to wake up for Alms giving (which was worth it!) I was able to see and learn about all the delights in the market, had a short visit to see local village minorities and how they live, and rounded up the day with the breathtaking Kuang Si waterfalls which shouldn’t be missed! The bus was very comfortable and clean, and I was offered cold water when I needed it. My tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and interesting. He explained much of the history of Laos and answered every questions I asked. He was also very patient and kind. Mr. Bhuntan (? Sorry for my terrible memory) really knows about everything and kept me interested the whole time. If there is any downside, the minority villages were a bit tourist-orientated, with children trying to sell things. I had to book a different tour the next day to see the real Hmong and Khmu lifestyle. Nonetheless, this was an amazing tour and very well organised. I would recommend it to anyone. Thank you!

The description of the tour is misleading. For a start then there is not an option to experience the traditional alms-giving ceremony as it happens well before the tour starts. Secondly then we finished going to the small morning marked, the villages and the waterfall at 11.30 (and then not much left to do other than the lunch). Should be sold as a half day tour and priced as such. However the waterfall is stunning and should not be missed and both driver and guide great. Also good communication with the tour company. Just tour not as described and I feel not great value for money.

Although I insisted from the beginning on a personalised customised tour, the operator seemed only concerned in delivering his standard tour but for a single customer. The “described” four was finished by 10:15AM. Operator insisted that he delivered the tour “as sold” (don’t think though that a full day ends at 10:15…)
Fortunately the guide was flexible and took the initiative to extend to 2 nearby places to fill the gap.
Still a long way to go to understand the difference between private and privatised
Got robbed of 200USD. Had I known would have joined a tour group.
