Ensure you take a reusable water bottle, do not purchase water at the concession stands to fill it; there are drinking taps to grab a quick drink, you can also refill your reusable bottles there free of charge. These can be found at multiple sites across the zoo for you.
Take your hat, sunnies and some sunblock; sun in Australia hits different and a hat can make all the difference across the warmer days we have. Some snacks are also a plus, the food and drinks at the zoo are expensive and tbh not really a viable option if you have a family. My last trip a salad and a soft drink cost me $23.
I find the zoo to be most enjoyable as a solo outing, if that’s an option. This way you can walk around at your own leisure, some things may interest you more than others. This gives you free agency to double back to some things if you’d like to.
Grab the free map as well, it has keeper talk times as well as all amenities you may need.
Definitely check out the Zen Garden, it’s absolutely amazing.

I had a most enjoyable day at the zoo. It was crowded being school holidays. However it only added to the joy to see all the young ones being so excited to see the animals. I was very impressed on how clean and green it was. The animals seem to be well looked after and were active. Great to see them having space and not cooped up. There were also straw in bags strewn around for to stimulate the animals to dig into the bags and investigate.

Such a lovely zoo, spent the day there with my family. All the animals were out so you could see them. The zoo is a huge area , the grounds and walking around the zoo is beautiful. Stopped and had some lunch there , also nice. I would definitely be coming back to visit the zoo again , loved it
