The tunnels. No time to see other sites, including the castle. The whole trip felt faintly disorganized. The driver, Janet, was excellent. The guide, Richard, was a really nice guy, but didn’t chat or explain what we were seeing as we drove through Kent, the garden of England.

  2. Nourite_M

While the tour guide was nice the tour itself was disappointing. The interior of the castle was closed the day of the tour. We were notified of this on our way to the castle. A tour company should have this information in advance and alter the tour or the price. Also we were charged the full price of the day tour.

Long day, excellent combination of locations and fantastic guide.
Dover Castle is historically fascinating. Canterbury is a delightful old town and is also historically interesting. Both of those, and the cliffs, should be on the must see list of the UK.
Sophie is a wonderful guide: enthusiastic, friendly, knowledgeable.

A memorable tour, with an excellent, friendly tour guide and bus driver. The start and drop times were also managed well even though it was a 2.5 hour journey away from London. Abundant time was available at each site to see to your hearts content. Although it was communicated in advance that Dover Cliffs was only a pit stop, with allotted 45 minutes we felt we could have had some time more at Dover cliffs. We had adequate time for snacking too with no ban on any food type on the bus. A satisfying tour. We would have been happier with more time at Dover cliffs and reduced time at Canterbury Castle. This tour is definitely recommended for travelers.

So much to see and learn. We could have easily spent a day or two at Dover Castle. Our guide and driver were ever so pleasant, knowledgeable, and helpful.

Loved it! Our guides Ava and Janet were the best! The tunnels at Dover are so impressive and the cliffs are spectacular. Canterbury is a lovely town with so much history

My favorite part was Canterbury. The cliffs of dover were beautiful. We had a small window at the cliffs but that was enough time for me. The castle is also enormous with lovely views. You will be doing alot of walking on this tour so be prepared for that. The bus ride was also gorgeous of kent county.

Loved Dover Castle more than expected. Eva was great guide and Walter a great driver. Lovely day on the coast!

  9. Lori_J

Our tour guide, Eva, was dynamite. Our driver, Valter, was very good. It’s a long day but we thought that maybe some more time should be added to the Canterbury part of the trip. There is so much to do there! Overall it was an excellent experience. We’d highly recommend this day trip from London.

Booked this tour because the reviews were pretty good. Pros: the sights are amazing. The locations complement each other well and this tour had the potential to be great. A little more time at Dover Castle wouldn’t hurt! Cons: our tour departed 48 minutes late. There was not notice, no communication of any kind that this was happening and was not explained. Our tour guide had very little information about any of the locations, but later discovered this was his first tour. No problem. The bus missed several turns, we had to wait for late passengers at two locations and did not arrive at Canterbury until 3:30 and it closes at 5. The tour was advertised as a 10 hour and 30 minutes tour and was more like 8:30/9 hours, even after the bus made an unexpected “emergency” stop which was not explained either. It was beautiful, but the communication, organization and administration was seriously lacking.

The tour was scheduled to start at 9am & we were told to be ready to board at 8:50. I called Anderson at 9:10 & asked where the bus was. The Anderson representative called the tour guide & he said they would be there in 10 minutes. They finally showed up at 9:48. I wanted to give the tour director some leeway since it was his first ever tour, but too many unexplained things happened on this tour. The tour director didn’t tell everyone to keep the same seat they had when they got on the coach, so because of this there were some conflicts on the bus. I told the tour director in between the 1st stop and the 2nd that he has to make that announcement to take control of the tour. He made the announcement when we got back to the coach after visiting Dover Castle. On the way home from Canterbury Cathedral, the tour director made an announcement that we hade to make an “emergency stop”. He never said what it was for, but we stopped at the Intercontinental and one person exited the coach. She returned in 10-15 minutes. Before this stop, we were scheduled to return by 6:47 pm (according to Waze). Because of this stop, we didn’t return until 7:19 pm (which is what Waze predicted). I have no idea why we stopped – I am guessing it was a WC stop, since the Anderson coach had no WC on it. Because of the tour leaving late, we did not have enough time at Dover Castle. One person was 20 minutes late from a 30 minute stop at the White Cliffs of Dover and because of this, we didn’t have enough time at Canterbury Cathedral. Now let’s get to the driver/coach. I am not sure if it was the driver or the coach, but I have never encountered so many short stops/ screeching stops on a tour (and I have done 20+ tours). It is a miracle people on the coach didn’t get nauseous. While the sites were amazing, the guide, driver, and coach left MUCH to be desired. Please address Anderson about this on my behalf. Thank yiu, Mat Eisenstadt

James our tour guide was exceptional! Our Driver Brendon was efficient and safe. This is a jam packed tour with lots of walking. Dover Castle has a lot of choices on what to see, so I recommend researching it to make the most of your time. The White Cliffs of Dover were beautiful, we had a sunny day. Lots of walking. We went to the Canterbury Cathedral, which was unbelievable! You should research that too before you go, to make the most of your time. We went to Weavers in Canterbury for late lunch (our choice and not included). An old pub/inn with a little canal running a long side. You can hire a bunty on the canal if you choose to use your time doing that. We enjoyed a lovely lunch and a beer and a quick walk to the Stoud River. Don’t be late back to the bus at each stop, it spoils it for other guests. Thank you Andersons! 🇬🇧🙏🍻 Small group tours are my choice every time.

White cliff by far is the most favorite spot for this tour. Wish we can have more time spent over there than other stops. Our guide Ava did an excellent job and a superb sunny day helped to enhance the experience.

Our tour guide was Maria, who was an absolute historian! She gave us incredible information regarding the history of the different places we visited. This was a definite full day adventure. We started at Dover Castle and we were able to hear the great rescue of the British and French soldiers from Dunkirk, France to Dover and how they used the underground tunnels of the castle to rescue over 338,000 soldiers during a critical time in the war. An absolute miracle and a very moving experience. A story that needs to be heard so people don’t forget it. Then, we went up to the castle tower to see the medieval history of the castle. Maria gave us great insight as to the different kings that took part in the building of the castle and their influence with British History. Then on to the Dover Cliffs. Due to time restrictions we couldn’t hike all the way to the cliffs (about a 2 hour round-trip hike) but we were able to get close enough to see its beauty. We were there on a clear enough day that we could see a shadow of the French shores across the channel. Then, we went on to the Canterbury Cathedral. While in route Maria gave us the history behind the importance of the Cathedral with the church and state. She also discussed Thomas Becket as the Bishop of Canterbury and how he stood up to the king and his martydom. It made the visit to the Cathedral all that more meaningful to understand some of the religious leaders and their dedication to God. After the tour of the cathedral there was still some time to walk around Canterbury. There was one downside in that it was an exceptionally hot day and the AC on the bus was not working. I fault the Anderson Tour company for that and not our guide, Maria, nor our bus driver for that. The bus driver did an excellent job as there were some spots that were tight to fit through but he did a fantastic job. I would highly recommend this trip. Plan on getting your steps in for the day, this is not for those who have difficulty walking.

Great tour guide and driver. Plenty of time to explore at all stops. Tour guide knowledgeable and interesting, was caring and looked after travellers kindly. It was a very hot day and cooled bottles water was organised by her. Locations not too busy and timings worked out well. Thoroughly enjoyable despite the heat.

I’m so torn on this tour. Dover Castle, the tunnels, and the White Cliffs of Dover did not disappoint. Such a beautiful area! Canterbury was underwhelming and we were surprised at how commercial the area around the cathedral was. (Not cute, local, commercial- big retail.) I expected Canterbury to be a bit more quaint, but that’s on me for not doing my research.
The reason I took off two stars was that our coach did not have air conditioning. It was hot and miserable. Our guide, Maria, made the very best she could out of a bad situation by buying waters to pass out for the ride back to London, but the ride home felt like torture. We were all dripping sweat as we disembarked. Not a pleasant way to spend the day.
Overall, I would highly recommend Maria as she was very knowledgeable and helpful. The tour itself was good, but I cannot recommend this tour company. Hopefully this was a one-time trouble and not a longstanding issue, but I wouldn’t risk it again.

Awesome look into the lives of medieval England nobility! The tour guide Maria was knowledgeable and a pleasure to go with!

Dover castle and white cliffs were a unique experience – very enjoyable. We have seen countless churches so the cathedral was so so. Also the live filming going on inside was a distraction. Tiny Tim’s tea house in Canterbury was a culinary delight. Our guide Shane and driver Brendan were top notch.
