Always try to the Big Bus Company – buses clean, drivers excellent and briefs informative. Have used this company in England, France, New York and in Dubai. Will be doing another trip to New York this September and have already booked my ticket.

Before the review, prompts to Keshara! She was VERY helpful all three times we came to the main kiosk at the Dubai mall. She helped us understand the best ways to use all of our pass features, and best times to do so. All of the agents were nice and helpful, but she was ABOVE the rest!
Now, on to the review… We have ridden these types of busses in many locations, and usually find them worth the cost. This one in Dubai is good, but not great. I believe a two day pass is more than enough to ride and see the attractions it delivers you to. The Red line is much faster (20 min intervals vs 30) than the blue line, and has more intriguing stops. IF you go for the 5 day, like we did, it gives you more flexibility to see those attractions, and adds a couple of “free” adventures like the dhow cruise, the Atlantis Aquarium, and the sunset desert safari. We did all three, and they are what you would expect for a “free” add on…
I say research the stops, decide if they are attractions you want/need to see, the cost, and then buy the right pass.
The closest stop that is the same as a Metro stop is the Future Museum. Good to know if using both. Also the Gold Souk stop is not too much of a walk from that Metro stop.
Download the Big Bus app, as it is very useful for this location. You can start your ride from any location it stops. Unless traveling by taxi, there is no short route to the Dubai Mall location. Not recommended as a starting point if unless you are already there.

It was a bit confusing as there are different lines on the same route. I was waiting in front of the museum of the future when I was supposed to wait in the back. I saw the same driver for 3 rounds until I said where should I wait for my bus? He replied, you’re waiting in the wrong stop. Most of the day was wasting and therefore I rode the bus for a little time. What an expensive ride? I couldn’t ride the bus the day after since I had other commitments for that day. I lost my money.

We were very happy with the bus, driver, staff, commentary _ but finding the bus was a nightmare. Communication with the bus operator was not live. The port in Dubai was not on the hop on map. Getting a taxi to a point to meet without an exact number for the address was not suitable for the drivers. 2 times the driver got lost and …. we later saw the buses coming and going to the ship but no timetable to help us meet up or that it was for our ticket. So we had a ticket 48 hours and used 4 hours! Very disappointing.

Absolute waste of money. Not like other tour companies that actually have a bus stop in both directions so you can hop on and off and utilise the ticket. This company only offer round trips so you can waste a LOT of time just sitting on the bus.
I wish I had booked with the other company (with RED buses) as they definitely had more logical routes.
Also, the tour guides at Dubai Mall bus stop where the routes start are hit and miss with the info they provide.
If there are a few of you, take a taxi instead- definitely more value for money. Absolutely gutted we purchased for 6 people for use for 4 or 5 days and used it a maximum of 3 times and that was so we could slightly justify how much we had spent on these tickets. Having used sight seeing buses in other countries successfully, I can confirm that this company is not great.

The Dubai tour was a great adventure. I would suggest a two day excursion package. The driver on our Red line tour was very pleasant and refreshing to see upon our returns from the tour stops. I suggest requesting individual tickets for groups due to different interest and time frames. Otherwise you have to stay together. No way to hop on off without ticket. There was confusion with starting point to redeem voucher for ticket and starting tour at any stop. Otherwise very good activity.

Service frequency was good. One of the drivers did not know the proper location for attraction drop off and we wasted almost 2 hours for searching for the place. We have walk a lot to find the location and tired. Next driver listened to our frustration and asked supervisor in a station to extend our day pass to another day. We were anther 9 hours extension for covering more places. This trip tickets are expensive compare to trips done in many other cities in Europe and North America. There were very few people travelling in busses. If trip cost is reasonable, big bus trips can attract more people to travel during off peek months too.
