This is nothing but a bus ride. Our tour guide began the trip with an anecdote about an earlier customer who was late and insulted by this tour guide’s reprimand. It was not only a cautionary tale, but a warning but a theme for the day. We made an unnecessary stop for coffee, and it was unclear as to any other reason why we were there. Was this a place of significance? I have no idea. On our way to our destinations, we were twice invited to take a nap! I did not spend USD $210.58 to nap. In my experience, a tour guide generally provides either preparatory or further information regarding the destination. Our tour guide pointed out sheep and apple trees. When we arrived at Stratford-Upon-Avon we could do little but focus on her red umbrellas as she quickly led us, like a line of ducklings, to a point of interest, the school building. We dared not look away lest we be left behind due to her pace. Fortunately, the speakers within the schoolhouse were informative. There was very little time to explore the area and absolutely NO information from our “guide”. Similarly, during our lunch stop we could explore the area OR eat. There was no time for both. Again, we had no information about the area or why it was a significant stop, merely another warning about being late. Two non-English speaking women were left behind at the final stop in Stratford. I understand that the bus cannot send out a search party, but I believe that the lack of information about the area and the pace of the visit contributed greatly to this unfortunate event. Our “guide” spent the next 20 minutes while enroute back to London justifying the abandonment. She could have simply said that the company will ensure their safe return. It was obvious from the chatter that many on the bus were quite concerned for their welfare. Instead, she announced their need to find their own accommodations and their own way home the next day and that this may prove difficult due to it being the day of the Queen’s funeral. I remain very concerned about the welfare of these unfortunate tourists. This was not a tour, merely a very rushed bus ride. Any passenger on this bus ride could have provided as much information as our “guide”. I reached out to Golden Tours before writing this review, but they don’t seem to believe that the quality of this “tour” is a problem.

Great daytrip from London, saw a lot in a little span of time. Elieen and Elvis were great. Just wish we had a little more time in the Cotswolds, but overall 5:5.

The English countryside was beautiful. The guide (Ari from Albania) and the driver Ashley (sp?) from Jamaica were consummate professionals. The historical significance of each location and the background were explained very well. Absolutely delightful trip.

A wonderful addition to busy, historic London. Loved seeing South Central England. Was disappointed that we were not able to stop in a few Cotswold villages.

Although there were multiple stops, it was a relaxed pace and our tour guide, Danxia, was fun, friendly, and very knowledgeable. Our bus driver, Sarb, was very kind and helpful as well. We took in beautiful sites and had a very memorable day.

Touring the Cotwalds and seeing Stonehenge was wonderful. There is plenty of time to see and visit everything.

Rich in history and a relaxing countryside. Danxia kept us organized with her detailed instructions and narrating. What more could you ask for?

We went on five tours during our cruise & booked three tours for our London stay. The Stratford on Avon & Cotswold tour guide, Danxia was, without question, the most knowledgeable, thorough, engaging guide we had during this trip. She knew us and greeted us by name as we boarded our bus at each stop. After our very long day, she helped every passenger on board with directions back home (hotel for us). As a result, we experienced our first London Underground ride and saved our 20 pounds of cab fare.
Bilingual, warm and friendly, Danxia is exceptional. Her excellence is a great reflection of the quality of Golden Tours and Viator. Thankful for our time in the UK and with this particular excursion. James & Kathy Pross

Most enjoyable trip. Love Bulbury, Burton on the River, Anne Hathaway’s home and of course seeing Shakespeare’s school and home. Danix our guide was wonderful! Beautiful countryside and great trip!

Cotswolds is a wonderful place. Castle combe and stone on the wold can be added to the tour. Anne Hathaway’s cottage time can be shorter. Tour departure platform can be added to the tour info.

To see the quaintness of the countryside. It’s the stuff of my childhood books that came to life. the tour guide Cedric was amazing

  12. HongLan_T

The guide Cedric is excellent and professional, the driver is also a nice guy and have good skills to drive a big bus at the country side narrow roads safely. But very disappointing just given us 30 mins at Bilbury and 1 hr at the most beautiful village Bourton on the water ,after having lunch there is no time to explore the villages, 4 hrs at Stratford Avon is too long.

The tour guy did a great job pointing out historical sites and interesting places. Unfortunately the trip involved too many stops. There was not nearly enough Time to enjoy any of them. Maybe the trip should include just one stop “Stanford on the Avon”. It’s in the Cotswolds, and there would be time to take in the sites the town has to offer. Time for a little lunch.
The tour guide did an excellent job.

Rita was outstanding! We enjoyed her commentary so much and her ongoing banter with Gil, our bus driver. She was very knowledgeable and I noticed she took extra care with some of the other older passengers who couldn’t move as fast as others. Would definitely love to have her on board for another trip.

The tour guide did a fabulous job discussing the history and sites. The stops in the Cotswolds were too short. The guide should direct us earlier how long the next drive will be. Also especially at the Cotswold stops he needed to inform us of where the restrooms are and the price charged.
The Stratford -upon-Avon tour was exceptional! So very interesting and done so well especially in Shakespeare’s school!

You stole my money and such not credible company at all! I got covid just hours before my trip and I showed up on the golden tour office stating that I tested covid positive and I asked for giving me any other trip next week or a refund but unfortunately I didn’t find any support. I will go viral everywhere and report ur company on social media

Guide left a family for being 15 minutes late …. Wanted the rest of us to have our time ….. this requires too many characters

  19. Ankita_S

The guide Ilene was very knowledgeable and caring. Driver Kolin was very professional as well. Great trip. Golden tours was the company.

This was a last minute effort to make my dreams of visiting the Cotswolds come true and I’m so glad it was one of the few tours available. It was so well organized, the bus was very clean (had a bathroom – very important), and the driver/speaker guide duo were beyond professional and informational. My mom and I had the most amazing time! We learned so much about Shakespeare and visited so many little towns that will be forever etched in my heart. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!! <3

Having recently read “Hamnet,” I was anxious to see the houses described in the novel. I also have always wanted to see the Cotswolds. This tour did not disappoint. Our tour guide, Dan, was very knowledgeable and helpful, with tons of history to share with us during the long journey there and back. Seeing the birthplace of Shakespeare, his school, and the Anne Hathaway cottage was wonderful. The “Master” lesson/performance was a great treat, and my great niece enjoyed writing with a quill. Overall a great day, highly recommend.
