Wonderful tour guide. Comes from long dynasty of scots named Usher. Enjoyed every minute. Speaks very clearly. Knows all the history past and present.

Very Good job by Mr Usher who is a nice person and wonderful guide. He brought Edinburgh to life for us with his superior knowledge and love for his city and country.

  3. MarkM_T

I highly recommend this private walking tour of Edinburgh. Stuart Usher we met him at Usher Hall, which was donated by one of his relatives is a walking encyclopedia of interesting information, both fact and legend, concerning Edinburgh.

  4. Michael P

Mr. Usher was great. Really knew his history and was an all-around great guide.

  5. David B

We enjoyed our tour of Edinburgh under the capable guidance of Mr. Usher. He knows the city and its proprietors well. He has a wonderful grasp of history and its significance for current events. He is eminently likable. He took us places and told us things that we would have missed otherwise. Spend your first day in the city in his company and the remainder of your time will increase in enjoyability.

  6. John S

The pace and breath of the tour could be improved. I didn’t feel we saw or learned much more than a few anecdotes for a four hour walking tour.

  7. Luther_S

The tour was informative and the guide was pleasant and knowledgeable. I will definitely be back. Viator is not an efficient means of communication, however. Sol don’t assume the service will receive notice of a schedule change timely via email.

We had a wonderful tour with Mr. Usher! He was so informative. We saw so much of the city and learned so much. He went above and beyond when he saw I had a list of places to see. He actually took us by car to see the last few things on my list…pretty special! I’d highly recommend this walking tour. Loved every minute!!!

Stewart, our guide was charming & had a great knowledge of the history of Edinburgh. Due to Covid rules he wasn’t allowed to accompany us into the castle so we didn’t have him for a large proportion of the morning which was a shame.

I strongly recommend Allison Duncan. She is a former History professor and is very knowledgeable about the history and human interest stories of Edinburgh. She also has a lovely personality and we were not bored for a second during our 3 1/2 hour tour!

  11. Robert_H

David is both knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the history of Edinburgh. You can tell that he is both educated and experienced in his field of study. His outgoing personality and agreeable nature also engaged each member of my family. We traveled with our 3 teenage children and they learned a lot of history and we’re not bored at all. A real asset to the tour guide profession. Well worth the money!

Stewart is a courteous guide and very informative. He took us around and gave us background level of detail that we would not have gotten a group tour. We came over from North America and will go home knowing more of Scotland than we had when we arrived.

Our tour guide. Allison, was wonderful- knowledgeable, friendly, kind, and patient. There was a snafu though- I had indicated in my booking notes that we wanted to purchase tickets to go inside the castle and unfortunately she had not been informed. If i had known tickets were timed and i needed to book that in advance on my own I would have. We lost a lot of time on the tour because the castle tickets hadn’t been pre-booked and we had to wait for an opening. That was a disappointment.

We had the absolute most amazing time with Stuart. This is my second tour with him and we learned and experienced so much both times! Would recommend Stuart and his colleagues to anyone looking for an authentic Edinburgh experience that isn’t a cheesy Harry Potter your.

  15. Anne_I

Our guide was amazing. She was so knowledgeable and brought Edinburgh to life for us. Her knowledge of history went so deep that it made our entire trip.

  16. James_S

The tour was amazing, the history Allison recounted for us was engrossing and relevant to everything we saw, and of course we were awed by the beauty of Edinburgh!!! Allison was amazing and we would gladly take this tour again!

  17. David_S

Richard and Stuart took care of us. If you want the best in history of the area, you will not go wrong. I highly recommend.

  18. Debbie_J

David Forsyth was our guide and he was brilliant! We had a great morning walk with history & architecture at the center of the tour. Greyfriars Kirk yard was fascinating as well. Be sure to book tickets for the castle!

  19. JoLynn_D

David our guide was great and made our tour of Edinburgh Castle most rememberable. Very impressed with his complete grasp of Scottish history.
