This excursion was fantastic and I highly recommend it. The views during the hike were amazing, the food at the lunch was unbelievably delicious, and the lava tubes were really cool to experience. Ernesto was a great guide and took care of everything while we were out with him and made sure everyone’s needs were met.
About the hike. You will be on a hiking trail that is sometimes narrow with inclines and declines. In some sections there are step-ups/downs, uneven surfaces, exposed rocks and tree roots, and loose gravel. If you do this hike you should dress accordingly, bring a backpack to hold some additional clothing and water.
During the tour through the lava tubes, you are provided hard hats with headlamps, you will definitely need the light to see in the tube.
The lunch, which is not included in the price, was spectacular. It was on a beautiful farm located off the hiking trail. it was a wonderful experience and a great way to refuel after the hike.

The good stuff: 1. The tour knew a lot about volcanoes, provided us with everything we needed and were polite and ready to help. Communicating was also easy.
The bad stuff: after just 30′ on the road we stopped for a whole hour to buy coffee and drinks from a specific shop and village (probably owned by a friend of theirs). So this was unnecessarily long. What’s more, the tour was difficult for someone a bit older. The worst part is that we stopped literally every 5-10 for a rest. All of this added a lot of unnecessary time on our trip. We knew of course that seeing lava was out of the question but we didn’t even get close to an active crater. Even see it from a large distance. I understand the restrictions and prohibitions. But the summit is at 3.350m and we only reached 2.200m. Other tours quote that they almost reach 2.700-2.800m. i have no way of knowing that for sure though. Overall a nice and friendly hiking tour but unfortunately in no way a volcano tour.

It was an unforgettable experience! I was satisfied with the speed of the tour, not too slow, not too fast, the stops were small but frequent, it helped a lot. I am not a very athletic woman, but I calmly went all the way. The equipment was provided – trekking boots, a jacket and a stick. The views are incredible, the guide is experienced, spoke in English. On the way to the mountain, there was a stop for about half an hour to buy food and drink coffee, I think that this is justified, since almost no one took food with them before, and 3 euros for a large and tasty sandwich is cheap. There you can buy water and snacks, as well as go to the toilet. Highly recommend this tour!

It was a challenging start to the climb, but got better! She was erupting as we hiked!! Our guides were amazing…especially Marguerite…she stayed with me every step of the way!

The scenary on the hike is breathtaking. It was a challenging hike for me and my daughter but our guide, Margherita, was so kind and she really helped us along by showing us the best way to walk and it was no problem to take as many breaks as needed. We had a great sense of achievement afterwards. Ernesto and Margherita are both lovely people and this tour was really well organised. They provided walking poles and hiking boots. I think this trip was very good value for money.

When I got there, I was afraid we would just be going on a little walk, but this wasn’t the case at all!! We were able to climb pretty high up the volcano, and then, the highlight, run down the side! Such a cool experience.

Great hike, great gear from the company! Friendly staff. Hike takes app. 3.5 hrs., so be prepared! It was a pleasure.

Absolutely amazing experience! A very well organised tour. The guides were very friendly and had a great sense of humour.
All of the essential equipment was provided (shoes, poles and jackets). The tour allowed for a stop at the visitor centre both before and after the climb – perfect opportunity to grab snacks/souvenirs!
The ascent was slow and steady and allowed the guides to share knowledge about the volcano as we climbed. Decent was down a steep slope, running down felt like skiing!
The trip was both educational and fun, and provided the opportunity to meet other solo traveler’s in Catania. All-in-all excellent value for money!

We throughly enjoyed the experience as we have never trekked before and the guides were very helpful and encouraging

The trekking through Etnas soft, gravelly surface and enjoying the beautiful vegetation along the way.
The tour guides were fantastic and full of lots of interesting information regarding Etna. I was a bit slower than the younger more fit members of the group and really appreciated their care and patience. Was a wonderful day!

So much fun!!! Took me so long to find a tour which involved an actual hike/adventure and this was totally it. We couldn’t even see that much coz of cloud cover and i still had the best time.

Fab tour by Ernesto and I loved that he was very knowledgeable and was keen to point out various landforms. Well organised.

The guides were fantastic. But the walking is on difficult terrain for 10km. Felt very scared of falling at times. I was unaware of how dangerous it could be.

Great hike! First we went to a village to buy a vegan sandwich. It was very tasty 🙂
Then we went to the Etna and started the hike from 1900 meter or something. From there we did a 4 hour hike to 2300 M with a lot of small and 1 longer break in between to catch your breath and have lunch (moving time was 2 hours). Our guide Alessio knows a lot about the vulcano and explains it very clearly in English. Also, the view was amazing and the terrain differs per part of the hike. Last but not least: going down goes 10 times quicker than going up and is really funny!!

Really enjoyed this trip, the guides were so knowledgeable about the area and clearly passionate.
This trip took us away from the crowds and a hike with varying terrain. I would recommend to everyone.
Can take your own sandwiches or buy a very nice sandwich at a shop enroute. They also provide shoes, coats and walking poles.

Great Etna Experience with Ernesto. He has a big knowledge about the region and vulacano. Reccomended for people with good conditions.

Had a great time. Learned a lot of geology made some friends! Please note: this hike isn’t easy and it’s not to the summit of etna, though there is an amazing view and I enjoyed the other craters and scenery very much!
