We want to share honest and fair review based on our own experience to help more customers when they make decisions. Our local tour guide Bee is great – knowledgeable and professional! We would give him a 5-star for what he did! However, the whole tour only worth 2.5 stars. 1. What we paid for Viator includes motor boat, horse carriage and Aswan High Dam. The first day we were asked to double pay for those again. The refund now is in process after all kinds of communications. Those unnecessary hassle shouldn’t happen in the first place. 2. The cruise is Nile Jewel – definitely not 5 star. It doesn’t match the photos shown here. The drain for the shower was clogged when checking-in and we took the dirts out of the drain ourselves. Our room was arranged on the ground floor – most time dark. Usually the bottom rooms are cheaper. 3. The hot air balloon trip was cancelled due to bad weather and we’re told to be refund of 25 dollars per person – it’s out of anybody’s control of course. 4. The tipping for the cruise staff and sailors is expected around 650 Egyptian pounds in total – they put numbers on 2 envelopes last day. However, we were told on the first day better to pay 200 EGP per person per day + 100 EGP per person per night. 5. It would be much more transparent if all the extra fees mentioned above can be communicated clearly in advance for customers to make informative decisions.

    – You have a choice to visit Nubian village later
    – Return to the cruise ship
    Day 2
    – Depart at 4am to Abu Simbel temple by bus.
    – Return to cruise by midday and starts sailing.
    – Cruise stop at Kom Ombo for visit at the temple right at the river bank.
    – Return to cruise ship and continue sailing
    Day 3
    – Cruise stop for a visit to Edfu temple at 0530am
    – Return to cruise ship and continue sailing and reach Luxor
    – Visit Luxor temple at night and return back to cruise ship for a night
    Day 4
    – Check-out at 4.30 and took a small boat to the west bank for a balloon ride
    – Proceed to Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and Karnak Temple
    – Return back to cruise ship to collect our luggage and arrange with the guide for transfer to anywhere in Luxor
    – Everything ends around 1630hrs
I hope this would be helpful for anyone intend to plan for this great trip! This is by far the most affordable 4D3N cruise trip in Viator and I think its really worth it. Also, please have a working mobile data and WhatsApp for the guide to contact you.

The things I liked about the trip was the nice boat and the amazing landscapes and temples along the way.
I can’t say the same about the organisers of the trip. I repeatedly had to ask them about the schedule as there were time deviations. Their response rate was okayish. On the other hand what I’m mostly disappointed with are the tour guides they picked to tour us around the temples. Most of them had little interest in explaining and more interested on the tips. The last one we had for the whole day is Luxor was terrible though. He was mostly trying to extract money from us. Trying to take us at touristic shops to get a commission. He was also pushing to use a private motorboat to cross the Nile instead of going with the paid car or the ferry. He asked 200 pounds from each of us for the private boat. 200 x 7 people = 1400 pounds or 43 euros. That’s a a scam. The ferry costs 5 pounds and the car transportation was already paid.

This is the cheapest tour I could find. Organisation is not that good. There is no schedule sent to us before. You always know the schedule one day before. The schedule is very tight. We don’t have much time to see the details of all the attractions. We have every day a different tour guide and none of them try hard to explain all the details to us. Always 5 – 10 minutes explanation and let us walk around alone and take photos for 15-20 minutes. We saw tour guides from other groups always showing them around and explaining all the details. Hot air balloon was cancelled owing to the airport control. But we saw some hot air balloons flying. Then they told us that they were the first group. However, we waited there from 5am till 6:30. And then we kept waiting there again till 8:30 for our tour guide, Sayed Omar. Which means that we waited 3.5 hours for nothing for our last day. Sayed Oma is our tour guide for the last two days. Instead of spending time to the attractions, he always led us to go to the perfume shops and stone shops to buy some expensive stuffs. He also brought us to his cousin’s restaurant. For sure he got commission. My local friend told me all the prices are not reasonable.
PS. For Abu Simbel, the ride was 7 hours back and forth. And we only spent 2 hours there.
The cruise ship is La Terrasse. Last day, two of my breakfast bags are gone. I asked the front desk for help. I only lost some food and my power bank. But imagine I put something important in the bag. They only told me maybe people from other group took it. The next day my local friend called them and then they found the bag. It’s not fair the way they treat me. Their attitude is not that good. I don’t think I would recommend this tour to anyone, only if you have budget issue.
