Enver was a fabulous guide. Arrived early at our hotel but was chilled when we were running late and adapted the day to everything we most wanted to do. Skipping the long queues at the cistern was brilliant and our favourite location. Took us for a great lunch at the pudding shop and gave us a choice of places and was even giving us advice for the day after on our own. We learnt so much and he was great company as well as very knowledgeable.

We had a great time. Our guide Serhat was very experienced and knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. He got us to every site easily and swiftly so we were never really waiting around. We were so glad that we made this decision as we would have been wandering around aimlessly trying to get from place to place without him. It would have taken us several days to do alone what he accomplished in just one day! He had a lot of insight that we wouldn’t have had any way of finding out otherwise. I would highly recommend doing this private tour. He made it all about our adventure and we didn’t have to wait around for others to move on. We also had a lot of fun and he found us special places for photo ops. This tour is a must and then another day you can just wander around the old city with all of your new found knowledge!

The agency and then guide were prompt and clear communicating after we booked. The guide arrived on time. He started with some information about where we met him which was interesting. It went downhill from there. Our all day tour lasted 5.5 hours with us following him and trying to not lose him in crowds. He brought us to a few sights and provided very minimal information. I had to ask what buildings were or about the places we were. We read information signs to learn more. He spent quite a bit of our day taking us to carpet, leather, and other handicraft stores. He spent more time on his phone that talking to us. I went to the restroom and then waited for a while for him to return with no explanation from him. Lunch was ok but expensive for what we had. While walking thru the Grand Bazaar I stopped at one booth. He then asked me our plans for the following day and after I replied I was not sure, he said today is not for shopping – you can come back tomorrow to do that. We were very disappointed. We could have learned more by reading the signs at the few locations we went to. All the places were close to each other and we could have found them on our own. Our time would have been much better spent without our guide. Don’t waste your time or money with this tour guide.

Gilsen was a wonderful guide. She is extremely knowledgeable about Istanbul and Turkish history and readily shared her expertise. She was also conscious to create exactly the tour we wanted and tailoring the experience to our preferences.

Tour guide was knowledgeable but extremely disinterested in participating in the tour. Many times, he let us alone to explore. May have been with us maybe 50% of the tour. The rest of the time he sat alone while we waited on lines, etc. I saw other tour guides wait with clients and educating them during down times.
The transportation was also a rip off. Basically paid the transportation upcharge for a round trip to old city and back to hotel. Tour guide tried to hustle us with a visit to a leather shop. Visibly got upset when we declined the visit. Also, drama at the end which related to the driver having to pay the hotel valet (asked us for money). Would not recommend.

Great private tour for those short of time. Customised to my interests, said I wasn’t keen on shopping and so we looked through bazaar and market but didn’t get trapped in a shop. Idil was terrific at getting through or avoiding a queue. We only had to queue for the Hagia Sofia, elsewhere we even went through gates other tour operators weren’t using. Every minute not spent standing in a queue was worth the money for a private tour.

We had a wonderful time the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. We recommend wearing very comfortable shoes throughout the the three days. We enjoyed the spice market and Grand Bazaar would suggest making a meeting spot so everyone can browse and shop as they like. Our guide was awesome and we would recommend Batuhan Bakir to anyone looking for a good tour guide.
